no need to change it... but accurate predictions does seem to be a validating criteria and if you pose a 50% or less rate of prediction then it seems as though the list wasn't too valid to begin with.. the number one wrong choice being Heatley.. it's just a matter of opinion at this point and its been done with.. so lets see what you'll have in stock next year

I agree Greg but it would be pretty cowardly of me to revise the list now. To add further to your point, Dustin Penner is enjoying a strong start too. Hind-sight is always 20-20.

I'm not too sure your choices still stand.. I'm from LA.. and Smyth seems to be the catalyst of our team.. and Kopitar is the points leader in the NHL... aside from that.. Heatley is the top goal scorer in the league and Malone isnt doing too shabby either..

Not sure about this list, some terrible additions/exclusions.
No Brad Richards? Also, before you criticize some of these contracts, you have to look at how they are structured (front loaded....makes a Briere contract not seem as bad). You have to look at other things as well...i am not a Briere fan for instance BUT he is in the top 5 in PLAYOFF scoring since the lockout ( only Zetterberg, Crosby, Malkin have more postseason points in the period..he even has more than someone like Datsyuk).

Backes, a young player is who you choose to compare to Malone....I think someone like Scott Hartnell (while still a couple of years younger) is a better comparison.....and he gets 4.2MM!

DiPietro is actually a great contract in my opinion....there is the injury and health risk BUT the top 5 or 6 contracts on every team are insured SO.....and, in 3 years time, we could STILL look at him as a steal if he can remain healthy and is a top 5 NHL goalie (possible).....4.5MM if the other top goalies are making 7-10MM by then? BOTH parties took a risk. Also, many long term contracts are front loaded and a way of circumventing the cap and they will be traded to a small market team (low salary for them but eat their cap space) or be bought out.

Heatley is one of the top 3-4 snipers in the NHL so hard to call that a bad contract.

Most insiders think that Redden played alot better than the media let on...especially after the coaching change. His giveaway/takeaway ratio was good.

Put Jovanovski on Detroit and he is an all-star....put Brian Rafalski (6MM per season) on Phoenix and he is a -20 player...takes more than one high priced guy to change that scenario!

You might want to consider Joe Thornton overpaid (I wouldn't BUT) because we judge success by playoff performance and "money" games.....a look at his play-off history tells us he is anything but money.

Jeff Finger's contract?
Jose Theodore?
Christobal Huet?
SEAN AVERY?
Michael Nylander??

A valid point, the thing is Campbell is living up to his contract and providing the offence required of him. The list was intended to represent the worst return on investment. Cambell's 52 points ranked him 10th among dmen last year and although his contract is eating up a lot of cap space in Chicago, they got return for their money. The Hossa deal makes less sense to me.
