NHL Rumors for October 14th

  • Fabian Brunnstrom may be a trading chip for the Dallas Stars as they are looking to add a puck-moving defenceman to quarterback their powerplay. James Neal and Loui Eriksson don’t appear to be going anywhere.
  • At yesterday’s Washington Capitals practice, Alex Ovechkin had some new linemates, Brendan Morrison and Mike Knuble. The 2nd line featured Backstrom, Semin and Laich. I’m sure the big 3 would play together on the powerplay. Mike Knuble and Brooks Laich fantasy owners might be happy with these line combos.
  • Is Cristobal Huet on shaky ground in Chicago? If he doesn’t start playing better, the ‘Hawks may have to look at their options with him. They attempted to trade him last year, but were obviously not successful.
  • The St. Louis Blues might be looking to add some veteran leadership for their young club.

i wish the leafs had a line that could make 2 good lines like the caps. i am a believer of it aint broke don’t fix it. why would the caps split up a line that makes even strengh teams look short handed? i would rather have them together for 20 minutes a game than 6-7 of pp time, which they get anyway. if they stop producing then tinker, but i would just let them be for now

It’s true that they produce but you need at least 3 solid lines to win in the playoffs, preferably 4 lines …washington will obviously be in the hunt and there’s no time like the present to see who can play together if needed. Ottawa was the perfect example of putting all your eggs in one basket, with the Spezza, Heatley, Alfie line that dominated all season a couple years ago. Besides, you and I could lace them up and score points playing with OV…
