The Leafs can't call Kadri up. Once a player has been sent back down to junior then they are stuck there for the remainder of the season. That is why they only have about 10 games or so at the start of the year to either keep a player or send him back to junior. A few years ago when Steve Mason was playing for Kitchener he got called up a few times to the NHL under some special emergency reserve clause (because the Columbus starter was injured)...but even then he wasn't actually allowed to start a game or play in a game unless the starting goalie (Columbus' normal back up goalie) was injured.

I think Rockplus is right, once a player is sent back to Junior, he can't be recalled

Yes, they can call up Kadri -- but if he plays more than 10 games, they lose a year of "control" over the player. He would become a restricted free agent a year sooner.

Kadri has 10 points in his last 5 games, and after a slow start, is ripping up the OHL. He could absolutely help the Maple Leafs, but no need to rush this kid -- rather, let him lead the Green Maple Leaf in Saskatoon instead.

I don't think the Leafs are able to call up Kadri because he has a contract with them. Once they sent him to the OHL it was for the whole year.
