- Derek Van Diest of Sun Media: So much for all the talk that Ales Hemsky could be trade bait for the Edmonton Oilers, as Hemsky is done for the season. He’ll have surgery on a lorn labrum and be out at least 6 months. It’s a big blow to the Oilers as Hemsky had 7 goal, 15 assists for 22 points in 22 games.
- Chip Alexander for the Raleigh News & Observer: Changes are most likely on the way for Hurricanes after a 5-15-5 start to the season. It can’t be a complete fire sale as they still need to put people in the seats, but youth movement needs to take place.
- Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News: It looks like the Sabres Patrick Kaleta will receiving a suspension (or should be) for hitting Flyers Dman, Jared Ross, from behind. Jones left the game with concussion like symptoms. It’s only a matter of time before someone knocks Kaleta’s block off.
Around the Boards: Hemsky done for the year, Changes coming for the ‘Canes, Kaleta getting suspended?
- No trackbacks yet.

Kaleta is lucky he didnt get killed right then and there. It was a brutal hit and he should be suspended for a number of games.
Rivet got hurt too, late in the game. He had fought twice already in the game.

I’m on the fence with this hit…Kaleta didn’t jump or even skate fast, he just leaned into a player who turned his back at the last moment. His history will probably condemn him though.

I likely reacted to the impact of Ross’s face into the glass. Was a brutal result, either way.

You have got to be kidding me..Kaleta is a usual suspect who does this kind of thing just to instagate a minor retaliation penalty for a guy like Riley Cote.
I can’t wait for the day he tries to turtle against a guy like Chara and gets thrown around, Mccabe style…

Just like czazy old Cherry is always saying, players need to pay attention on the ice and take a hit rather than turn their back…
