The Montreal Canadiens have re-signed Tomas Plekanec to a multi-year deal. Plekanec would have been an unrestricted free agent on July 1st. The deal is believed to be 6 years for $30 million.
Plekanec scored 25 goals last season and added 45 assists. The 27-year old Czech native has 4 consecutive 20+ goal seasons to start is career. In 393 career games, he has 103 goals, 151 assists for 253 points.

I think they overpaid to get Plekanec back. $4 mil cap hit would be fair enough. Poor move.

Overpaid for him, but most players these days are overpaid … He was their leading scoring during the regular season, but struggled down the stretch.

11 points (4 goals and 7 assists) in 19 playoff games

He was terrible when it counted, and had a career year in a contract year. Why did they need to give him so many years?
I wonder where they will be trying to trade him in 2011.
