- Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun:
- The Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers are reportedly interested in Dallas Stars centers Brad Richards and Mike Ribeiro if they become available. Ribeiro has a cap of $5 million for the next 2 season, Richards will be a UFA. With the Stars still not able to find an owner, the money may not be there to re-sign him.
- Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford said he’s been getting trade offers, “There are deals out there and if you just played in a fantasy league and wanted to be a fantasy GM, you could make great hockey deals. But you can’t because you have to factor the money in. Somebody has got to pay the bills.”
- Steve Yzerman and Steven Stamkos’ agent are talking about a contract, look for something in the 6-7 year range at around $7 million.
- Garrioch thinks that Bob Hartley would be a good hire for the New Jersey Devils if they fire John MacLean.
- It may be hard for the Boston Bruins to demote Michael Ryder to the minors to clear up cap space next month as he’s been one of their better players.
- The Ottawa Senators haven’t had any talks with Chris Phillips who’ll be a UFA at seasons end.
- The Atlanta Thrashers would like to add another forward, GM Rick Dudley has been scouting all over the place.
- Dale Tallon will likely move left winger Cory Stillman later on in the season as he’ll be UFA at seasons end.
- Phoenix is hoping to re-sign Ilya Bryzgalov. Detroit hasn’t had any contract talks with Jimmy Howard. Craig Anderson hasn’t had any talks with Colorado. Tomas Vokoun and Dwayne Roloson will likely be dealt by the trade deadline.
- Joni Pitkanen and Erik Cole will be UFA at the end of this season, Carolina will have to decide if they want to trade or keep them.
- Pierre LeBrun of ESPN:
- The Lightning and Steven Stamkos’ side have begun talking. LeBrun thinks the Lightning would like to see a Toews/Kane type deal at $6.3 million cap hit, Stamkos’ side may look at Crosby ($8.7 million) and Ovechkin ($9.5 million).
- Talks between the LA Kings and Drew Doughty haven’t begun yet.The Calgary Flames have told Jamore Iginla they won’t trade him this year.

Great video clips! Makes mynhltraderumors.com a must read on Sunday morning.
Moving Mike Ribeiro makes perfect sense for Dallas Stars. It creates room in their budget to re-sign Brad Richards along with their other free agents.
Steve Stamkos already proved last season he is worth Crosby money. Tampa signing him for $7 mil per year for seven years will the be steal of the decade.
Bruins do not need to move Michael Ryder to create cap space for Marco Sturm. They only need to move $1.4 mil to be cap compliant when Marco Sturm. However, they will need to move another $3.6 mil when Savard returns. It will be impossible not to move Michael Ryder when you factor in the additional $2.2 mil carry-over bonus to bring within the cap.

Hurricanes would be dumb to not re-sign Joni Pitkanen great OFD, And had a career year in assist last season and continues to impress, And the Hurricanes need a proven OFD and thats what Pitkanen brings to the table, He needs a 4+ years and 4+ mill..One of the best Defensive passer’s in the game and has great skating ability and his endurance is outstanding also has a great overall shot (Slap Shot and Wrist Shot)…RE-SIGN JONI!!!
