  • Craig Custance of ESPN: The GMs will meet next Tuesday and one thing they’ll talk about is hybrid icing. “To me, it’s a no-brainer,” Fletcher said. “I’ll be shocked if it’s not in the rulebook starting next season. It’s one of those things, I don’t know if there’s any strong opposition to it. It’s just something we all need to wrap our heads around.” There is small group of GMs would like to get rid of the trapezoid so that goalies could help protect defensemen.

  • Larry Brooks via twitter: Rangers defenseman Marc Staal will be examined by a concussion specialist next week. Back on October 16th when Staal visited Dr. Cantu, he was ordered to shut it down for 1 month. For the last 3 weeks Staal has been resting at his apartment.
  • Katie Carrera of the Washington Post: Capitals defenseman Mike Green is questionable for tonight. “I’m getting better each day. Finally, I think I’m getting close,” Green said. “We’ll see what the docs say and and we’ll go from there.”
  • John Bartlett of TSN: The Canadiens were without Michael Cammalleri and Andrei Kostitsyn last night. Cammalleri has a lower body injury. Scott Gomez has been cleared for contact.
