The Carolina Hurricanes have fired head coach Paul Maurice this morning. The Hurricanes sit 2nd last in the Eastern Conference with an 8-13-4 record.
Bob McKenzie via twitter: The Hurricanes are not practicing today. Kirk Muller will be introduced as the Hurricanes new head coach this evening.
John Buccigross via twitter: Maurice had a total record of 384-391-145 as head coach of the Hurricanes.
Luke DeCock via twitter: Kirk Muller is considered one of the top young coaches. He interviewed for head coaching jobs in Dallas, Minnesota and Ottawa this past summer.

Paul Maurice is a great coach, however, Carolina players did need a change. Any NHL team would be fortunate to have him as a coach! What a gentleman! Carolina’s loss is someone else’s gain! You go Paul
