i think teams that are obviously going to miss the playoffs, such as columbus, tampa, carolina and anaheim need to pull a flyers-type move and unload their stars. ship out lecavalier.. ryan.. getzlaf. staal.. pitkanen… umberger… nash…

i dont think the gms have the balls or go ahead to do it.. but i think there is a market for these types of transactions, which the flyers proved…

i think with tampa especially, you have yzerman who is trying to breed this detroit-esque type animal that is just not going to work… and columbus needs to get a new gm and a coach before anything major happens..

It would take a lot from Anaheim to trade Getzy but i agree on him. Wouldn’t trade Ryan though.

Carolina needs to get a couple quality wingers to play with Staal, not much else if their prospects can play in the NHL. I still have high hopes for Dalpe, Boychuk and the likes of Dumoulin, Alt and Murray of course.
Seems too harsh to trade the franchise face…what would it do for the fans and ticket sells in Carolina?

Smells like the same thing with Nash in Columbus than Staal. And Howson as a twat don’t dare to trade Nash ever. It would be the end of him if nothing else is.

I have always loved Lecavalier but he really isn’t playing well enough. Tampa needs to get rid of him to be better, but at the same time i would like to see him in a Kings jersey or something.

Philly is a bigger hockey market with more money and much greater depth. None of the four teams mentioned could pull off anything close like that.

Blowing things up in Colombus could be a solution, though it has never been an attractive place to go to, so they may have to stockpile picks and draft way better.

Carolinas trust is in organizational depth and development, too. Trading Staal would be a huge setback.

Tampa should get a nice return for Lecavalier and get a franchise goalie.

For the Ducks theres not much sense to trade Getzlaf, theres no proven depth and any other center behind him from next year on yet. It would also be a major setback. Whereas a Ryan package might land them a Weber.
