- Darren Dreger via twitter: Martin Brodeur has hired an agent, Pat Brisson, to represent him. He’s likely to test the free agent market. Brodeur has had limited discussions with the Devils. He could still re-sign with the Devils, but looking like he’ll check out the market.
- Bob McKenzie via twitter: If Brodeur was going to stay in New Jersey, he wouldn’t have hired an agent. He hasn’t used one in a long time.
- Eric Engels via twitter: Could see teams like the Maple Leafs, Capitals, Sharks and Lightning being interested.

Old, cheap, and a former Cup Champion, sounds like a perfect fit for Doug Wilson and the Sharks. Wilson has never met an older player that has won a cup that he has not fallen in love with.
My Guess Wilson gives Marty a 3 yr contract at 5 Million a year and a no movement clause. Sounds about right.

@Brian That made my day, I just burst out laughing.

Capitals are not interested. They weren’t interested in a goalie last summer until Vokoun came so cheap.
And Marty won’t get a 3x5mil deal. That’s about as wrong as gets.

Don’t be fooled…. Dougy knows a deal when he sees it… 3.5 mil IS possible. He was a good defenceman, seems like a nice guy…. lousy GM. GO SHARKS!

What’s wrong with Nemo? Not so good without an Allstar defense?

He’s probably looking for an organization with stability, good financial situation and a strong, contending team. I don’t see a Cup Final repeat in NJ either, especially, when they’re about to lose their captain.
It will be a 1-year deal and I guess he’d even take a cut.

I can’t even picture Brodeur in a jersey beside the Devils. He’ll probably play one more year or two at the most in the NHL, most likely with the Devils and take a pay cut to $3-4 million.

how would the Capitals be interested they already have Holtby and Neuvrith and Grubauer in the minors

If you guys seriously think Doug Wilson is a bad GM, then you know nothing about hockey.
