Sens should look at Semin, but love to play with Pens … Sharks clauses … What’s Oshie worth … Stastny for Ryan?
  • Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun: The Senators are about $5 million below the salary floor, and Brennan suggests they should make Alexander Semin an offer, but only if it’s a 1 year deal. Shane Doan may be a nicer catch, but many teams will be after him if he becomes available. The Devils and Red Wings have been said to be interested in Semin.
  • Mike Morreale via twitter: Alexander Semin’s agent, Mark Gandler, said his “priority remains NHL.” Josh Cooper via twitter: The longer the wait for Semin, the price drops, which may interest more teams. Josh Yohe via twitter: Gandler: “No question, playing in Pittsburgh would be great. Alex would love to play with either Malkin or Crosby.”
  • David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News: Pollak reminds people when rumor-mongering that Patrick Marleau and Marty Havlat have no-movement clauses, and Dan Boyle has a modified no-trade clause. Boyle can rule out 8 teams, but he’s not been asked for a list.
  • St. Louis Post Dispatch: If Perron is worth a 4 year, $15.25 million deal, what is T.J. Oshie worth? Jeremy Rutherford thinks about $4.25 million per season. Dan O’Neill thinks in the $3.5-4 million range. Jeff Gordon says more than Perron. Tom Timmermann thinks a 4 year deal with similar numbers to Perron.
  • Adrian Dater of the Denver Post: From a poll done on Mile High Hockey, Avs fans are thinking they should trade a player like Paul Stastny for Bobby Ryan. The Avs could use a left winger after the departure of Peter Mueller. P.A. Parenteau is more comfortable on the right side. Dater doesn’t think they are ready to move Stastny yet. If they were offering Anaheim Stastny for Ryan, Dater thinks a deal may have been done already. The Ducks need a center, and could handle his $6.6 million cap hit. The Avs do have 2 other good centers in Matt Duchene and Ryan O’Reilly, so if Stastny does stay, one of them will have to be a 3rd line center.
  • Darren Dreger via twitter: The Rangers are still very interested in Rick Nash, but they aren’t going to wait forever. They are looking at other options as well.
