I can’t see the Avalanche trading Duchene, especially at a cap friendly number for the next 2 years. Of the 3, I’d expect Stastny to be moved.

@Patrick, I haven’t heard from the guy so far so I’ll remember that.
However I still can’t figure out the Avs Forwards depth chart as it is. If I were an Avs fan, I sure as hell wouldn’t trade Duchene. Or O’Reilly or Landeskog for that matter, but as they have top-6 centers in excess, Duchene is still the most valuable as an asset.
The other problem is that they could trade Stastny, but A) will they ba able to hit the cap floor like that and B) is this team ready to be handed to Duchene and O’Reilly?
There’s David Jones to trade, but why did he get 4M. It almost amkes him untradeable.

I know this would be an aweful trade for CBJ but I really hope Burkie inquires in on Weber and offers a trade of Phaneuf + ___ for him. Weber and Phaneuf have very similar styles of play but Weber is WAYYY better on 1-on-1′s. If CBJ is desperate, maybe they would consider it.

AJ, you’re completely right. Being an Avs fan though it’d be tough to swallow. I’m with Luke in that I could see Duchene hitting 80 points here soon but he’s the center that would hold the most value for us to make a trade. If I’m trading him though, I’m trading him for Bobby Ryan, not Nash. A more affordable cap hit, a younger player and a built-in chemistry with Stastny already. Besides, if we wanted Nash, Howson would probably be asking for Duchene, Landeskog, Elliott and (2) 1st round picks.

@AJ, No he doesn`t. He`s a complete moron and is possible the worst writer in sports. He usually just butchers the other three sports and leaves hockey alone but lately that hasn`t been the case. Maybe someone has to be traded sure but I guarantee Duchene is untouchable. Do not take anything that idiot says seriously, he is clueless.

Luke, he makes complete sense. Of course trading Stastny might be a better option from an AVS standpoint, but Duchene has more value. Besides, the Landeskog-O’Reilly-Downie line is a given, so name your No.1 and No.3 lines, when you have Stastny, Duchene, Hejduk, McGinn, Jones and Parenteau for that. You only have 2 centers so either Stastny or Duchene plays below his capabilities. You wouldn’t wanna hurt Duchene’s development, but you also wouldn’t wanna pay 6.6M for a 3rd line C in Stastny. You can play McGinn on the 3rd line, but he won’t score 20+ goals there again. You can put Jones there, but again, you then have a guy playing 3rd line minutes for 4M.
So, what do you do?

Something is seriously wrong with Mark Kiszla…

Anyone who thinks that the Avs should trade O’Reilly or Duchene does not keep any track of the Avs whatsoever. O’Reilly led us in points last year, and Duchene has amazing talent that has yet to be tapped. He was injured for a lot of last year and never found his stride. Watch him hit 80+ points this year if he can stay healthy. And O’Reilly is one of our team pillars and an amazing leader.
