Injury notes: van Riemsdyk, Gardiner, Burns, Demers and Gilbert


  • Rob Longley via twitter: Leafs Jake Gardiner finished his skate after 20 minutes [yesterday] morning. James Mirtle via twitter: Mirtle hopes the Leafs aren’t going to rush Gardiner back. Carlyle’s “had to skate” comment if he wanted to play on Saturday was a little odd.
  • David Pollak via twitter: Safe bet that the Sharks won’t have Brent Burns and Jason Demers in the lineup for the season opener. Return date is not known.
  • Michael Russo via twitter: Wild Tom Gilbert tweaked his groin yesterday and was kept off the ice for precautionary reasons. He should be ready for the opener.
