Saying that “the talk is that the ducks cant resign both of them” is a bit ridiculous. Who have you heard that from? The brilliant minds of the Toronto media? G’day Damien Cox and Steve Simmons! You guys are geniuses!!! The Ducks have PLENTY of cap room coming up this season, and not resigning these two guys would likely be cause for firing Bob Murray, which isn’t very likely.

you can’t blame the toronto locale for the lack of a centreman signing… how about because there have been so few available over the past few years? … how about because burke might have taken himself out of the running because he didn’t want to sign one of these crazy long term deals?

i can’t see a getz or perry trade going to toronto… i can see one of them signing in the offseason in toronto… the talk is that the ducks cant resign both of them… and both have a strong connection to toronto via r. carlyle… and perry additionally because he is from 2 hours down the road

I really like the Leafs, but c’mon, it’s hilarious how the media thinks they can get every big-name player. Trading for an impending UFA for the sake of praying he’s interested in signing there is just dumb. If he were a FA, I doubt he’d sign here.

The reason the Leafs haven’t had the centerman they desperately need is because no one has wanted to sign here, and they keep trading away their picks to draft one.

I’d absolutely love to see Getzlaf in a Leafs uniform, but they don’t have the necessary pieces to acquire him (they have Kadri and/or Frattin, but that’s just a bad line of thinking). They should also hold onto their picks.

kulemin isnt brutal… even during his 7 goal season last year, he was never a liability… and if you have seen him this year, he is somewhat thriving under carlyle in his third line role… also, look at getzlaf and his year last year — he had an off year as well… it happens… to put kulemin in the brutal category is an overstatement.

AND… who says the leafs dont want kadri? he has been one of the best leaf players this season…

HAHAHA Kadri, Kulemin and a 2nd for Getzlaf? “Sure I’ll take the $2.5 million cap hit that comes with a winger who had one good season but is brutal now”, said nobody ever. Leaf land and their crazy trades…We’ll give you everything that we don’t want anymore for your best player. Good deal right??? How about Scrivens, Kulemin and Komi for Hiller, Gibson and Getzlaf???
