At least 6 teams inquired about O’Reilly … Flyers asked for Couturier … Leafs still interested in veteran goalie … Wings looking for help
  • Todd Cordell via twitter: Renaud Lavoie wrote that the Flyers, Rangers and Maple Leafs are among the teams interested in Avs center Ryan O’Reilly. They asked the Flyers for Sean Couturier.
  • Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: The Senators have looked at acquiring Ryan O’Reilly. Sources say that Bryan Murray has talked with Avs GM Greg Sherman, but the asking price may be too high. The Avs may be looking for a roster player, a prospect and a draft pick. Sherman has had talks with the Maple Leafs, Bruins, Rangers and Penguins. He’d like to trade him to an Eastern Conference team.
  • Chris Peters of CBS Sports: Maple Leafs GM Dave Nonis an TSN Radio 1050 radio when asked if they are still looking to acquire an experienced goalie:

“Yes, if we could. Both of our goalies are aware of it, not that we don’t think that we don’t have NHL caliber goaltenders, or goalies with the ability to become very good starting goaltenders.

“If we could add someone to help them along, a veteran that would help them grow, we would do it. At this point, there hasn’t been a veteran available, at least not at a price that makes any sense for us.

“To the credit of both our goaltenders, they’ve stepped up and played very, very well. It hasn’t changed. We’d like to give them some help along the way. If that’s not available at a reasonable price, we’re content to go with the two that we have.”

  • The Fourth Period: Red Wings GM Ken Holland has been looking for some secondary scoring help and a shutdown defenseman for the past couple weeks. Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle could be available, but the asking price seems to be too high.
