Giordano fined … Jannik Hansen to have hearing over Hossa elbow

  • Randy Sportak via twitter: Flames defenseman Mark Giordano was fined $10,000 for his slew foot against the Stars on Sunday.
  • Mike Brehm of the USA Today: Canucks Jannik Hansen will have a hearing at 3:30 for his elbow to the back of the head of Blackhawks winger Marian Hossa.

“I saw (Hossa) after the game,” Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said during Tuesday’s postgame news conference. “He seems OK, but we’ll know more tomorrow.”

“There’s a major concern,” Quenneville said of Hossa’s concussion history, “but hopefully, he’s OK.”

How many games do you think Hansen will get?

I’d say two games. No previous history but there seems to be a malicious intent and was a injury on the play.

No malicious intent. There have been more serious “head shots” this season without suspension. I say 0 games.

As soon as a player wears the Canuck jersey they are immediately tainted. Is he wearing raffi torres’s old jersey?

I don’t think having no previous history should shorten a suspension. Players should be penalized harder by the league for repeat offenses though.

You shouldn’t off lighter just because you haven’t done anything bad before – you still committed the offense so you should serve the according punishment.
