Video: Corey Perry Could be Getting a Call from Mr. Shanahan

UPDATE: Bob McKenzie via twitter: Perry will have a phone hearing today. Suspension would be 5 games or less.

Brian Lawton via twitter: I would be surprised if @AnaheimDucks Perry gets any more than a fine. Unfortunate play but not dirty. @mnwild Zucker looks back at pass. This is a rookie mistake as you can see Perry finishes his check but does not leave his feet or target Zuckers head. There is a reason you don’t see a lot of players look back over there shoulder to follow a pass up the wall leaving attacking angle blind!”

Anaheim Ducks winger Corey Perry will be having a discussion with Mr. Shanahan about his hit on Minnesota Wild Jason Zucker.

Perry was assessed a 5 minute major for interference and a game misconduct.

Do you think Perry should be suspended? If so,how many games do you think he should get?

Honestly it’s just because he is tall and very strong, zucker may not have seen him very well and wasn’t ready but Perry lowered his arm to soften the hit. But you know Mr.Shanny, he’s a goofball. Oh #phooey

Well, it would have been a clean hit, if the puck wasn’t long gone.

I’d say it was clean… no intent to injure. But because Zucker was “unsuspecting”, he might get 1 game.

No way does this look as bad as the Hall hit, and he only got 2 games.

Note to Zucker: Admiring your little 5 foot bank pass in the NHL is never a good idea.

Couldnt tell from that angle…did elbow hit his head?

I think it may have, but Perry didn’t stick his elbow out to make the contact worse. Zucker was bent over quite a bit, so it wasn’t Perry’s fault. 4 games seems rather ridiculous though.

especially how Fowler and Palieri have been taken out by questionable blows and were given a crap about…

and the reasoning is total bshit
no history outside 18 months prior to the incident can be taken into account, they accept there was no intent to injure and they admit Zucker should have been aware of his positioning… they even mention first it was only a full second(!!!) and right after they state he had enough time to adjust or slow down. It’s contradicting as a whole…

This was a dirty hit. He hit head first and zucker was in the wrong for staring at a pass but zeo brought up a good point with the hall suspension, ” what if it was the other way around?” Point being that if zucker hit perry the same way all you would be screaming for a 12 game suspension and that zucker is dirty. Perry got a good suspension on a dangerous play that should have been a hip check. Good job NHL for protecting all players in any situation! Kudos

Yes, again. All players except Fowler and Palmieri. The latter was knocked out by Raffi Torres FFS…

Plus Zucker isnt even injured. He was kept out ad a precaution and is back in the lineup. Perry wasnt even a second late and Zucker wasnt only staring down, but leaning and skating inside from the boards while looking the other way. Its as a stupid mistake as it gets.
