The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded center David Steckel to the Anaheim Ducks for right winger Ryan Lasch and a 2014 7th round pick.
The 31-year old Steckel was drafted by the LA Kings, 30th overall in the first round of the 2001 draft. He carries a $1.1 salary cap hit and will be a UFA at the end of the season.
The 26-year old Lasch signed a two year contract worth $1.25 million with the Ducks, and will be a UFA after the 2013-14 season.
James Mirtle via twitter: Lasch is currently playing in Sweden but will be joining the AHL Marlies.
Corey Pronman via twitter: Pronman had Lasch as the Ducks 14th best prospect last summer.
Chris Nichols via twitter: Ducks GM Murray: “#NHLDucks GM Murray: “Steckel is a tremendous faceoff man and penalty killer, something that will really help our club.”

I assume this is to create room for Lupul. I wouldn’t be surprised to see van Riemsdyk moved to center now.

@Wunschkind89: If JVR goes to centre who moves to LW?
Bozak-Grabovski-Kadri-McClement up the middle.
Orr takes Steckel’s seat in the press box.
