The Blackhawks acquire Michal Handzus from the Sharks

The San Jose Sharks have traded center Michal Handzus to the Chicago Blackhawks for a 2013 4th round draft pick according to Bob McKenzie. The 4th round pick originally belonged to the Sharks according to Kevin Kurz.

This will be Handzus’ second tour with the Blackhawks, having played with them in 2006-07. He only played in 8 games.

Handzus was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the 4th round, 101st overall in the 1995 draft. The 36-year old carries a $2.5 million salary cap hit this season. He’ll be a UFA at the end of the year.
