Trade Hits: Avs No. 1, Letang, Canadiens, Ballard, Clutterbuck, Omark and Red Wings
  • Adrian Dater: Starting to hear talk from a few people that the 1st overall may be in play for a trade. “Personally, I think Avs will outsmart themselves by trading pick if they do. MacKinnon will be a superstar”
  • Paul Hendrick: Both Joe Sakic and Patrick Roy had an early morning meeting with Don Meehan of Newport Sports Management.
  • Bruce Garrioch: A couple of teams have called Penguins GM Ray Shero to say “keep them in mind” if they are going to trade Kris Letang. Still wants to sign him.
  • Pierre LeBrun: The Canadiens have three second round picks and would like to move up in the draft.
  • David Pagnotta: The Canucks are still looking to trade Keith Ballard. If they can’t, expect him to be bought out.
  • Bob McKenzie: Confirming Russo that Cal Clutterbuck is likely to be dealt this weekend.
  • Jason Gregor: Oilers GM Craig MacTavish on Linus Omark: “I have not had a team inquire about him, but I would be open to moving his rights.” (from Tuesday’s press conference)
  • Ansar Khan of MLive: Red Wings GM Ken Holland has talked with some teams about trades, but nothing is imminent.

“This is the weekend that teams are motivated to make a move, and we’re motivated to make a move or two between now and unrestricted free agency (which starts next Friday) that we think will make our team a little better,” Holland said.
