Afternoon NHL and KHL Rumors: Raanta, Theodore, Prospal, Penguins and Pominville
  • Igor Eronko: Rumors are that KHLs Omsk is looking at Blackhawks goalie Antti Raanta instead of Jose Theodore.
  • Spector’s Hockey: Vinny Prospal is still looking for a team. Doesn’t plan on retiring as he feels he can still play.
  • William DePaoli: The Penguins could very well be in the market for a No. 1 goalie this winter. Defenseman Simon Despres could be used as a trade chip.
  • Michael Russo of the Star-Tribune: Wild’s Jason Pominville will be a UFA at the end of the year and would “prefer” to get a deal done by their opener on Thursday.

“I don’t want it to be a distraction for me and the way I play, and then you’re always thinking,” Pominville said. “If you know they’re talking and things aren’t going the way you want it to go, then you’re thinking, ‘Oh, are they not wanting to sign me anymore?’ I don’t really want to have that distraction, so hopefully it can get done before . If not, we’ll see where it goes from there.”
