NHL Trade: Kings Trade Ben Scrivens To Oilers For A Draft Pick

The Los Angeles Kings have traded goalie Ben Scrivens to the Edmonton Oilers for a 2014 3rd round pick.

Scrivens was undrafted. He carries a $550,000 salary cap hit and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

What do you think of the trade?

traded away a backup goalie for a backup goalie that was only good because he played on LA… and u give up a 3rd rounder? a team tha is rebuilding should not give away picks,or trade for over 30 yr old 4th liners thatg take the spots from the kids.. FIre MAC

Kind of stupid as Ben scrivens is not any better than dubnyk but atleast they save a bunch of cap space. They should have traded for Reimer

Woulda been nice to see what toronto would of got for remier and would of been a good fit as he’s proven he can take a losing attitude from a team and turn it in to a positive one, dubynk and scrviens are probably around the same talent imo but I haven’t watched to many oliers games but I feel like it was a good choice to shake things up

Scrivens is worth more than a 3rd round pick. Look at his numbers when he was with the Leafs and the Leafs D is no better than the Oilers D. Scrivens is a proven winner and a class act. I’m not an Oilers fan but if I was I’d be thrilled with the trades that took place today. Scrivens has also played for Eikens and is an Edmonton boy so icing on the cake. Ben will soon win over the Oilers faithful.

^Guaranteed. He played for Eakins 3 seasons. Did great in LA while quick was injured and got coached by Ranford! He’s got promise.

    I wouldn’t say that he’s worth much more then a 3rd round

Also d isnt only played by defense, its a joke you think oilers have a better defense

MacTavish should be fired. They came into the season extremely weak on Defense and Goalie and the best he could do is over pay a dwarf defenseman, Andrew Ference. There are plenty of teams with excess goalies ie St Louis and Anaheim and yet he fails to make a trade. Then he overpays for the flake from the Flyers and now trades a high 3rd pick for a career AHL goalie who is UFA after this season. If he wanted to make an impact he would have traded for either Neurvirth, Holtby, Halak, Anderson who are legitimate starters….and he should grow some testicles and trade one of his “young studs” for a top defenseman. Simply he sucks!!!

PS….I am not an Oiler’s fan.
