  • Pierre LeBrun: Steven Stamkos said he’s feeling better and still hopes to play before the Olympic break. He said it is possible that the plays in the Olympics even if he doesn’t get into a NHL game. Will depend on how he feels. Damian Cristodero: Lightning GM Damian Cristodero on Stamkos: “No. 1, he has to be cleared by doctors to play. Until we get to that point,we’ll just wait. No need to comment further.”
  • Mike Halford: Jets Evander Kane will be out the next six games with a hand infection.
  • Shawn Mitchell: Blue Jackets Marian Gaborik (collarbone) skated yesterday, but isn’t shooting yet. He has an x-ray scheduled for next week.
  • Ken Wiebe: Jets Jim Slater is still on the IR and will need more work before he’s able to be in game shape.
  • Rich Chere: Devils Dainius Zubrus had his nose broken after getting sandwiched by Ryan McDonagh and Brian Boyle.
  • NBC Pro Hockey Talk: The Panthers activate Tomas Kopecky from the IR and put Aleksander Barkov on it.
  • Joe Haggerty: Bruins coach Claude Julien on defenseman Adam McQuaid: “He’s just not ready to play yet. Waiting for the medical staff to say ‘you can take the next step with him.”
  • Bill Meltzer: Flyers Kimmo Timonen suffered a lower-body injury after blocking a shot. Sam Carchidi: Timonen’s injury is not serious according to Craig Berube.
  • James Mirtle: Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said that Tim Gleason suffered a shoulder injury but doesn’t think it’s serious. Damien Cox: Sounding like it could be a burner.
  • Jim Diamond: Predators Shea Weber left last night’s game with an upper-body injury.
  • Rich Chere: Devils Ryane Clowe needed stitches to his knuckle on his right hand. X-rays were negative.
