VIDEO: SportsNet HC Trade Tracker: Sabres Christian Ehrhoff

Hockey Central panel discusses whether the Buffalo Sabres will trade Christian Ehrhoff. The 31-year old carries a $4 million salary cap hit and salary, and the deal runs through 2020-21.

Billy Jaffe thinks possible destinations are the Stars, Oilers and Islanders.

Who do you think should go after Ehrhoff, and at what cost?

Good fit for trade I would think would be Washington who are deep on stay home defence. But need one more offence Dman. Erhoff and draft pick to caps for orlov and goalie

No way would the Islanders take him after our history with him refusing a great offer just to avoid coming here only 3 years ago. Snow wants team players and has built a culture of commitment to the team/family, so I can’t see him bringing in someone that so obviously hates the idea of playing for us.

I think Ehrhoff could be a sneaky good pick up.

Obligatory Erhoff recapture note: The Sabres are on the hook for a $10M recapture penalty right now. If Erhoff retires on another team then this is split equally among the remaining years of his contract (so 1 year early $10M x 1 year, 2years: $5M x 2 years, etc.). If Erhoff stays with the Sabres then in the final 4 years of the contract the $10M starts coming down as his cap hit exceeds his salary. So there is a big incentive to not trade him…
