Morning Rumors IV: Cammalleri, Khudobin, Vrbata, Moss, Morris, Miller and Vanek
  • Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun: The Flames re-signing Mike Cammalleri wasn’t ever going to happen unless he’d take a pay-cut to remain with the team during a lengthy rebuilding period. He’ll test the open market unless he comes to terms with the team who trades for him. If Brian Burke could get a first round pick for him, it would be a success. A second round pick and a prospect would be suffice.
  • Chip Alexander: Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford said that contract talks with goaltender Anton Khudobin are underway, but he’s not sure if they can get done by tomorrow.
  • Sarah McLellan: Coyotes pending UFAs Radim Vrbata, David Moss and Derek Morris all want to remain in Phoenix. Talks between the Coyotes and Vrbata are still scheduled to take place after the season. There have been no active talks between the Coyotes and Moss and Morris. They could be offseason discussions.
  • John Vogl of the Buffalo News: Questions are already being asked to Ryan Miller if he would re-sign with the Blues.

“I’m very open to it,” Miller told reporters in St. Louis today, “but right now, it’s more about the hockey. We’re going to have a lot of time later on to feel that out.

    “It’s definitely a possibility.”

  • Steven Marcus: Islanders Thomas Vanek said that if the team was in the ‘top echelon’ that he might stay, adding “I can tell you that winning does make a big difference.”
