NHL Video: Stars Ryan Garbutt Spears Ducks Corey Perry

Dallas Stars Ryan Garbutt received a 5 minute major for spearing Anaheim Ducks Corey Perry in the first period of last night’s game.

Earlier in the series, Perry gave a little spear to Jamie Benn, and only received a two minute penalty.

Do you think Garbutt SHOULD get suspended? Do you think he WILL get suspended?

suspension= League wants to stop this awful behavior
no suspension= League whats to decrease awful behavior

Plain and simple. it needs to HURT THE ONE WHO SPEARS as MUCH AS WHO IS SPEARED.

    PERIOD

With Perry getting nothing for his little spear on Benn, and Lucic getting only getting a $5,000 fine for his stick work to Emelin’s junk, I can’t see Garbutt getting a suspension. Maybe a $2,500 at most.

It’s about time someone got suspended to send a message to the players.

If you want to intimidate a player, legally throw your weight into him with a check, and quit it with his spearing nonsense.

Absolutely. Sit both Garbutt and Perry for 2 games. They both speared someone during this series, so both should sit. But sitting one without the other would be a farce.

Way to go NHL. They’ve announced to the league that this move is a perfectly legitimate tactic. Lucic has done this twice is less than a month and Perry did it to Benn. If they suspend Garbutt, really easy to appeal. I guess they’d better add a new rule. That is how Gary Betteman does things. Backwards.
