NHL Rumors II: Draft Edition – Oilers, Flames, Canucks, Sutter and Hyka
  • Mike Morreale: The Oilers scouting staff have a definitive top-six group of draft prospects. The Flames have a top-eight.
  • Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province: The Canucks will check to see what the cost is to move up in the draft.

“We’re going to talk to the other teams and we’re going to see what the price is to move up,” Benning said.

“As we get closer to the draft, there’s going to be more dialogue with other teams. It just depends on the price on what it’s going to take to get higher.

“Right now, we pick six and we’re prepared if we have the six pick. But, also, we’ll be prepared to both move up and move down.”

  • Ken Wiebe: The Jets didn’t sign 2012 2nd round (39th) draft pick Lukas Sutter.
  • Dobber Prospects: The Kings didn’t sign draft pick Tomas Hyka. He’ll re-enter the 2014 NHL draft.
