NHL Rumors I: Lacavalier, Grabovski, Isles, Jets, Blackhawks, Wings and Mueller

  • Sam Carchidi: Nothing is imminent, but Flyers GM Ron Hextall on the market for Vincent Lecavalier: “changes a little bit because all of a sudden, players are in place.” Hextall added that it wouldn’t be awkward if Lecavalier was still with the team at the start of next season.
  • Randy Miller: The Flyers want to “add a veteran defenseman, if we can,” according to GM Ron Hextall.
  • Alex Prewitt: The Capitals decided against re-signing Mikhail Grabovski and going with two defenseman instead of one center and one defenseman.
  • Arthur Staple: Sources saying the Islanders offered Dan Boyle three years and Jarome Iginla a four year contract.
  • Ken Wiebe: Expects the Jets will look to add a top-nine forward through trade or free agency.
  • Scott Powers: Contract talks between the  Blackhawks and Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane are ongoing.
  • Ansar Khan: The Red Wings were talking with Tom Gilbert, but he was offered two years and $5.6 million from the Canadiens and they told him not to wait for them.
  • Dave Isaac: The Flyers had interest in T.J. Brennan as a depth defenseman, but the Islanders were a better fit for him.
  • Pierre LeBrun: Peter Mueller is still available. He’s healthy and looking to return to the NHL.

@Mark, any chance of a Bobby Ryan trade? There is no chance he stays in Ottawa after this season to go through a rebuild.

I agree Alex. Im not a Sens fan but my gosh what the heck is going on behind the scenes there?
The Bobby Ryan trade in retrospect is a total disaster because of what you gave up vs what, Bobby Ryan, would get now in a trade.
    the law of diminishing returns

Karlsson and Turris are two very good pieces. I have a feeling your team will be a lottery team next year. And McDavid is a generational talent.
What scares me is Murray trading Ryan at the draft next year for the first overall.
I hate the idea as my team is in your division

I’m actually a wings fan, and think he would be a great fit in Detroit being a right handed goal scorer. Ottawa is just a train wreck now, almost makes more sense to trade him now and get more than wait til the deadline.

In 2008….(i think it was 2008) at the trade deadline, it was Mats Sundin who nixed a trade to the Ducks for Bobby Ryan and a 1st (Edmonton’s which they had that year.)
    Tarnishing his legacy.

I do not buy a player nixing a trade tarnishing their rep., if it is part of their no trade contract. Leaf fan’s look for any excuse to tarnish Sundin’s Swedish legacy. Meanwhile, both Doug Gilmour and Windy Clarke both had chances to come back to the Leafs as Free Agents but did not….yet it did not seem to tarnish their Canadian legacy.
