Yeesh talk about an overpay. Makes Garth look like a genious with the Halak contract. Got a better goalie for less

I don’t watch much devils hockey, but his 1.97 goals against is impressive and his save % throughout the years has been pretty stellar. I’d rather have that contract than howard’s contract, as a wings fan (not taking into consideration mrazek). I really don’t think goalies should be given more than 3 or 4 year contracts.

Overpay? He is EASILY a better goalie then Halak, even on his worst days. The guy is a stud. Snow is (arguably) the worst GM ever in your teams history. EVER.

Not an overpay? Are you kidding? He makes more than Price, Bobrovsky, Rask, and Varlamov and he makes the same as Miller. All those goalies are worlds better than Schneider. Schneiders numbers are inflated playing behind the bullshit Jersey defense. Devils had the lowest shot per game total in the league this year he had the easiest job in the league. And yeah Snows a real moron for drafting a superstar and builing arguably the best prospect pool in the league. A pool which was damn near empty when Mad Mike left. The fact the he makes only 1 mill less a year than Lundqvist and Quick is laughably stupid

You people calling this a bad deal really don’t understand hockey and the market. First of all Price (6.5) and Rask (7) DO make more than Schneider, while the only reason Bobrovsky doesn’t is that his contract was a two bridge deal signed after only one real season as a starter and he still hauls in a hefty (5.625). Miller is also on contract till he’s 36 years old while Corey is signed through the prime of his career. Also, it’s hard to argue these guys have a skill set so much more impressive the guys play has been remarkable and has run statistically even to Rask whose played maybe only 40 games more than Corey. People, don’t forget the cap is only going to continue go up! If he hit the open market, he’d cash in a lot more. Starting goalies under 30 with his stats and talents don’t come by often, you know some team with $$$ would be willing to sign the guy for upwards of 7 mi. If Corey Crawford can command 6 mil a year, then i don’t see how Schneider, whose had the leading safe percentage since he entered the league couldn’t earn the same on a deal that’s going to cover the best years of his career. Also, this isn’t the late 90s, the Devils defense isn’t anything like it use to be and regardless, Corey’s stats have stayed consistent to what they were in Vancouver.

This was exactly the right deal, to expect any less is laughable.
