NHL News: Maple Leafs and Franson Agree On One-Year Deal

  • Lance Hornby: The Maple Leafs and Cody Franson avoid salary arbitration and agree to a one-year, $3.3 million contract.

Franson is coming off a career high in assists (28) and points (33) last season. He had filed a $4.2 million salary with arbitration, with the Leafs submitting $2 million.

Franson is scheduled to become a UFA at the end of next season, and there are rumors that they will continue to shop him around the league.

Where do you think he’ll end up? What can the Leafs expect to get in return for him?

$3.3M for a guy who hasn’t scored more than 8 goals in a single season in the NHL?
