NHL Video: Canadiens Offering Subban Eight-Years?

  • Chris Johnston of SportsNet: The Canadiens have offered P.K. Subban a long-term deal before tomorrow mornings arbitration hearing.

    It’s very likely still that P.K. Subban is going to agree to a long-term deal before this goes to an arbitrator,” Johnston reports.

    “I’ve been told (the Canadiens) have a significant offer on the table, believed to be an eight-year deal,” Johnston continues. “In these final hours it’s just about trying to massage that number back and forth and get to that final point.”

    Pretty much what I’ve been hearing. No real leaks on salary, though the popular guess is in the $8m(give or take) yearly hit range. Basically boils down to 8 years or 1, which Montreal already decided on if it goes to arbitration.

    How delightful, a contract almost as big as his mouth and long as his ego! That’s wonderful! I wonder why he was never used on Team Canada? I guess that public display of rubbin’ that big C of his really paid off, as the Habs are amorously impelled to pay through the nose for such a “big show” of affection. What a bunch of Carp!

    He’s is going to get paid, like it or not. This really shouldn’t be a surprise. Salary disclosure’s been around for over 20 years.
