2014-15 Team Outlook:

It was a pretty uneventful summer for the Kings, which is excellent news for their fans.

The Kings were one of the best teams in a very tough Western Conference and went on to win their second Stanley Cup in three seasons.

After having that amount of success, you’d think they wouldn’t be able to keep their core in tact, but that’s certainly not the case. As a matter of fact, their roster remains almost entirely the same.

They lost veteran defenseman Willie Mitchell to the Florida Panthers in free agency, but every other regular is returning to the team in 2014-15.

With Drew Doughty, Slava Voynov, Jake Muzzin and co. their defense looks to be in good shape once again.

Jonathan Quick and Martin Jones provide a more than adequate tandem in goal, and Anze Kopitar and the rest of the forward core remain the same.

Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli burst onto the scene late last season and were invaluable in the postseason. There’s no reason to believe they won’t continue to improve, which is a scary thought for the rest of the league as they were downright dominant with Jeff Carter.

The Kings were a dominant possession team last season, and with a little more scoring punch they likely would have finished near the top of the league. That shouldn’t be an issue in 2014-15 with Marian Gaborik, Pearson and Toffoli in the picture.

Los Angeles is a legitimate threat to win three Stanley Cups in four seasons, which is ludicrous in today’s salary cap world.
