  • Helene St. James: Gustav Nyquist isn’t expected to miss much time after taking a knee-on-knee hit on Saturday. He’s been examined by doctors who determined there was no significant injury.

    “It looked scary at the time but the initial word is that it looks like a day-to-day, short-term injury.”

  • Michael Traikos: Maple Leafs David Booth is out four weeks with a fractured foot.
  • David Alter: Maple Leafs David Clarkson has a fractured orbital bone, but it doesn’t require surgery and he is expected back on Friday.
  • Rob Longley: Maple Leafs Cody Franson hurt his left knee cap last night.
  • Arthur Staple: Islanders Lubomir Visnovski is day-to-day with back spasms.
  • Mike Harrington: Sabres Patrick Kaleta will have further x-rays/evaluation on his cheekbone today. There are concussion concerns for Johan Larsson.
