Rumors XI: Another Look at Players Who Could Be Traded
  • Mark Spector of Sportsnet: Spector looking at some players that might be available for trade.TJ Oshie and Patrik Berglund – The Blues aren’t fast enough and need some more scoring down the middle.

Eddie Lack – The Canucks have decided to trade Lack. Lack will be a UFA after next season and would bring the Canucks a better return than Jacob Markstrom. GM Jim Benning wants a second round pick in return.

Phil Kessel – He can be moved, but the question becomes, how much salary do they have to retain to move him? Predicting a team like the Panthers or Coyotes.

Brandon Sutter – A second line center on an average team, third line center on the Penguins. A UFA next offseason. The Penguins could use some scoring wingers (no, not Kessel). Spector mentions Flames right winger Jiri Hudler and a 2nd round pick for Sutter.

Jiri Hudler – A year away from being a free agent. Flames GM Brad Treliving may look to move him for someone younger and bigger.

Kyle Okposo – He’ll be be looking for a big money, long-term contract. Would be a nice fit in Pittsburgh, but that isn’t happening. Spector posses Okposo for Kevin Bieksa and Zack Kassian.

Cam Talbot – The Oilers won’t be giving up the No. 16 pick for Talbot, unless a defenseman is included . Down to the Oilers and Sabres. The Sabres have the 21st and 31st picks. The Oilers would send the Rangers the 33rd pick right now for Talbot.

Patrick Sharp/Bryan Bickell – Blackhawks can’t take back much salary, so they may have to deal with salary floor teams like the Coyotes and Predators. The Preds and Blackhawks won’t be helping each other out. The Panthers may get one of them for not much. Maybe the Canadiens would look at Bickell.

Nicklas Grossman – A year left on his deal. Could be a “steadying force” if paired with a Morgan Rielly or Justin Schultz.

Robin Lehner/Craig Anderson – Anderson a “surer thing,” but it would cost you more. Some still think that Lehner can become a better goalie than what he’s shown so far. The goalie market is flooded at the moment, so they won’t get an impact player coming back.

Jeff Skinner – hasn’t been the same since his concussions. GM Ron Francis will have difficulty getting value for him. Predators GM David Poile could take a chance on him.
