Rumors: Coyotes, Habs, Blues, Sens, Ducks, Oilers, Jets and Bruins
  • Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun:  If the Hurricanes decide to move Eric Staal, the Maple Leafs won’t be the only team interested. The Coyotes are interested in upgrading down the middle. The Coyotes would like keep Antoine Vermette, and would also like to add some help for him.Martin Brodeur still isn’t getting much interest. He may be forced into retirement unless a team gets desperate.

The Canadiens want to sign Alex Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher sooner than later.

Keep hearing that the Oilers are listening to offers for Jordan Eberle. GM Craig MacTavish is denying.

Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock could be on the hot seat soon if they don’t turn things around.

The Coyotes and Senators may have had talks about Jared Cowen.

The Bruins and Senators are interested in Chris Stewart.

The Ducks also have some interest in Tyler Myers and have the assets to do it. The asking price could be two prospects and a pick. The Ducks have been looking for a defenseman for awhile.

The Oilers have also called the Sabres about Myers.

The Jets would like to add some depth without taking away from their roster. The Jets will have to make some decisions on Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien, who will be UFAs after next season.

The Canadiens may look at add some depth upfront at some point this season.

  • James Murphy of XN Sports: Sources saying the Ducks have held talks with the Sabres about Tyler Myers, but have backed off lately. The Red Wings would be a good fit. Why not the Stars? The Stars have the pieces to make a deal and Myers would be reunited with Lindy Ruff, his first NHL coach. Murphy notes that this is not coming from any sources.
  • Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe: Sabres GM Tim Murray is looking for more draft picks, and may be looking at the Flyers 2nd round pick the Bruins received in the Johnny Boychuk trade with the Islanders. The Bruins are interested in Chris Stewart. The Senators and Blue Jackets are also interested in Stewart. The Bruins may want the Sabres to retain some of Stewart’s contract, which would cost them more in assets. The Bruins got worse by trading Boychuk, but the two second round picks put them in a better position to add a forward. Trading Matt Bartkowski or Adam McQuaid likely would have only netted them a third round pick.
