  • James Mirtle: It will be the middle of December at the earliest that Leafs Roman Polak is able to return.
  • Nick Groke: Avs Jamie McGinn had his back surgery yesterday. Patrick Roy: “It went really well. But I would not be surprised if he’s out for the seaso.”
  • Don Brennan: Senators coach Dave Cameron on Chris Neil’s knee injury: “It’s not day to day, more week to week”.
  • Josh Yohe: Penguins Olli Maatta won’t play this weekend, and could be out longer. Chris Kunitz tried skating yesterday, but wasn’t ready.
  • Bryan Burns of Lightning.NHL: Ondrej Palat missed last night’s game as he’s day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Joe Smith: GM Steve Yzerman said that Palat suffered the injury on Tuesday and he’s not sure on how long he’ll be out. They don’t plan on calling anyone up at the moment.
  • Dave Isaac: Flyers Ryan White has been cleared for contact, but is still a week or two away from returning.
  • Mark Lazerus: Blackhawks Corey Crawford“As far as , I’m not sure yet. I’m getting better pretty quickly, but we don’t want to rush things, either.”
  • Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times: Though he stayed on the ice for the power play, later took a penalty, Jonathan Toews eventually left the games after taking a big hit from Bruins Dennis Seidenberg. Coach Joel Quenneville didnt’ seem too concerned and added that he “seemed all right.” More should be known today.

“It’s tough to lose Jonny to a hit like that,” Patrick Sharp said. “Seidenberg has a reputation as a clean hockey player, he’s got a lot of respect in the league. But having said that, we don’t like that hit. Maybe need to bear down a little more on the 5-on-3 and make them pay.”
