Rumors IV: Jagr, Ducks and Scouting NJ-CGY and ANA-OTT
  • Tom Gulitti of The Record: Devils Jaromir Jagr’s ice time has dropped below 13 minutes the past two games (before last night), and he thinks “it’s going to get worse” if he’s not traded.

“I think it might change the other way if I stay here,” the 43-year-old future Hall of Famer said after today’s morning skate. “That’s all I really worry about. If I stay here and we’re not going to have a chance to make the playoffs, I don’t think I’m going to play at all. And I still like to play. I like this team, I love this team, but if it’s going to be after the trading deadline and we’re going to be (out of playoff contention), it’s going to get worse. I know that.”

Jagr on if he’ll be a Devil after the deadline.

“I don’t know. I’m not sure. I cannot answer that.”

A source has said Jagr hasn’t seen eye-to-eye with with forward coach Adam Oates.

  • Lance Pugmire of the LA Times: Ducks GM Bob Murray on trade talk.

“There’s a lot of talking going on, but it’s all about rentals, for Pete’s sake,” Murray said about players who could be acquired but would be free to go elsewhere next season.

Murray isn’t interested in giving up young talent like Shea Theodore for a rental.

“It’s gone from a third-round pick for a rental, someone you might have for three months; now it’s a second- or first-rounder and a prospect,” Murray said. “I’m not doing that here. … It’s not my cup of tea, this rental world.”

“If I felt there was somebody … especially if I thought I had a good chance to sign the guy, and there’s maybe a few out there right now,“ Murray said. “You do have gut feelings, a sense you can sign and keep the guy, so you’re not trading for a rental.”
