Rumors IX: Hawks-Caps Talking Sharp, Hawks Options and Timonen
  • Chris Kuc: Source saying the Blackhawks and Capitals have talked about a possible trade involving Patrick Sharp.
  • Pierre LeBrun: Don’t sense the Blackhawks are close to a trade right now, but they are working on it. They still have time. Feel that Antoine Vermette is the best fit for them, but the price could be too high and they could go elsewhere. Believe that the Blackhawks have also looked at Cam Atkinson, Erik Cole, Curtis Glencross, etc. They have lots of options.
  • John Shannon: The Blackhawks are still looking to improve at the forward position before the deadline. As well as Vermette, keep hearing Sam Gagner is in the mix.
  • Mark Lazerus: Timonen trade is not the end for the Blackhawks. Vermette and Atkinson are still in the mix.
  • Mark Lazerus: After giving up a second round pick for Timonen, don’t expect them to trade a first round pick.
  • ESPN Chicago: Timonen doesn’t know if he’ll play on Monday. He’ll arrive in Chicago tomorrow and practice with the team on Sunday.

The 33-year old Sharp carries a $5.9 million salary cap hit. His salary this season is $6.5 million, $5.5 million next year and $5 million in 2016-17
