Rumors IX: Sharp, Cole, Horcoff, Beleskey, Michalek, Petry and Sens
  • Chris Kuc: The agent for Patrick Sharp, Rick Curran, spoke with Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman on Thursday and was assured that they have “no intention” of trading Sharp.
  • David Pagnotta: Sharp talk should be quieted, but some teams still think there is room to talk, ie. the Capitals.
  • Pierre LeBrun: Stars Erik Cole has a partial no-trade clause, with most teams in the East on his list. They are taking lots of calls for him. If a team is not on his and they are presented a good offer, Cole could be open to it depending on who the team is.
  • Craig Custance: Erik Cole is generating interest. Shawn Horcoff is also an option for some, especially after Antoine Vermette is traded.
  • Pierre LeBrun: It will be interesting to see what the Ducks do with Matt Beleskey. They are haven’t been able to get him re-signed, and have been getting calls on him. He’s a pending UFA and have been good for them, so it’s possible that nothing happens. Still a bit of intrigue there. It would take a pretty good offer to get Beleskey from the Ducks. He can help them win this year, but you never know.
  • Craig Morgan: Zbynek Michalek has been a “hot” commodity all week, not just today.
  • Tom Gulitti: Devils GM/coach Lou Lamoriello on if other GMs know not to call him during their game about a potential trade: “If it’s the right call, they can call me.”
  • The Fourth Period: Jeff Petry was scratched from the Oilers game tonight as the Oilers are get closer to trading him. The Ducks, Canadiens, Red Wings, Penguins and Bruins are believed to be interested.
  • The Fourth Period: Multiple reports that the Senators are getting calls on defenseman Chris Phillips, Eric Gryba, Jared Cowen and Patrick Wiercioch. Phillips has a list of 10 teams that he won’t accept a trade too. The Sens are also trying to trade David Legwand, who has a limited no-trade clause.
