Rumors V: Coyotes, Blues, Blackhawks, Capitals, Sharks, Devils and Scouting
  • Craig Morgan of Fox Sports Arizona: Agent Allan Walsh on Antoine Vermette and Zbynek Michalek on which trade rumors are real and which are not.

“You don’t know but you kind of know,” Walsh said Friday morning as rumors swirled about Vermette and Michalek. “When you read and hear things, you know what’s really happening and what’s not happening.”

The Blackhawks, Bruins, Rangers, Jets, Ducks and Red Wings are said to be interested in Vermette.

The Lightning, Blackhawks (written before Kimonen trade), Ducks, Red Wings and Blues are said to be interested in Michalek.

“Hypothetically speaking, let’s assume both are moved before the deadline,” Walsh said. “Nothing would prevent them from potentially coming back here in the summer. It’s never been discussed or explored, but they both really enjoy playing here, and certainly no doors would be closed.”

  • Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post Dispatch: Blues GM Doug Armstrong said on Thursday that he wouldn’t be “shocked” if they didn’t do anything. It’s believed they might be interested in adding a top-nine like Curtis Glencross or Antoine Vermette and/or a depth defenseman like Zbynek Michalek. High prices may keep them away.
  • Tracey Myers: Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman: “We’re looking for a forward. Hopefully it works out but if not we’ll go with what we’ve got.”
  • Chuck Gormley: If the Capitals are really interested in Blackhawks Patrick Sharp, they need to put together an attractive package for him.
  • Mark Purdy: Wouldn’t be surprised if the Sharks traded Scott Hannan.
  • Tom Gulitti of The Record: After the morning skate yesterday, Marek Zidlicky said he hasn’t been asked by the Devils about his no-trade clause.
  • Mike Chambers: Scouting the Stars-Avs: Tampa Bay, Canadiens, Blues and Penguins.
  • Helene Elliott: Scouting the Kings-Ducks: Canadiens, Blues, Maple Leafs, Red Wings, Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Blackhawks, Canucks, Predators and Sabres
  • Dennis Bernstein: Canadiens assistant GM Rick Dudley attended his third consecutive Kings game. David Pagnotta: The Leafs are still following the Kings as well.
  • Rich Chere: Scouting the Devils-Bruins: Red Wings, Lightning, Flames, Blue Jackets, Penguins, Blackhawks and Flyers (2)
