Rumors VIII: Sharp, Petry, Lightning, Zuccarello, Bozak and Stewart
  • Brian Hedger: Source saying that Patrick Sharp is not in play.
  • Mark Spector: Have been told that the Blackhawks have no plans to trade trade Sharp by the deadline.
  • Travis Hughes: “Why would the Blackhawks trade Sharp right now though? It doesn’t really make much sense. Wait til summer.”
  • David Pagnotta: The Blackhawks really like Antoine Vermette, but are looking at other options, which is where Patrick Sharp talk as come into play.
  • David Pagnotta: The Blackhawks are working hard to bring in at least one top-six forward. A possible Sharp trade could bring that in.
  • Mark Spector: The Oilers will make Jeff Petry a healthy scratch tonight. Has likely played his last game in a Oilers uniform.
  • Joe Haggerty: Sources saying that Petry can be had for a second round pick. Wouldn’t be a bad pickup for the Bruins.
  • Joe Smith: Lightning GM said he’s not surprised at the high prices for available defensemen. Said it’s “50-50” that something gets done.
  • Larry Brooks of the NY Post: The Rangers have told Mats Zuccarello that they are exploring a trade. The Rangers are believed to have made a five- or six-year offer at $4.5 million. Zuccarello is believed to be looking for over $5 million a season, possibly up to $5.5 million.Over the past three days, GM Glen Sather has let teams know that he could trade Zuccarello. Maybe the Rangers could trade Zuccarello to the Coyotes for Antoine Vermette, with the Coyotes then flipping Zuccarello for a pick or two.Sources say the Rangers have never once asked the Maple Leafs about Tyler Bozak, but the Leafs have brought him up a number of times. Could the Leafs take Zuccarello in a Bozak deal and then flip him for picks.
  • Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Friedman on 630 CHED on Chris Stewart and the Bruins.

“Yeah. You know, Calgary was in on him, but this whole thing with Giordano where the Flames are doing a really good job of keeping this quiet – I wonder how much it adjusts their whole situation. I’ve always believed Boston was the front-runner for him. But the one thing I’ve also heard too is the price to Boston is higher than everywhere else. I also do know that at times Nashville has been in on that one as well.”
