Darren Dreger: The Maple Leafs could have traded Dion Phaneuf, but they feel they can get a better deal in the offseason. They had talks with with a couple teams about Joffrey Lupul.
Ken Wiebe: Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff talked with Michael Frolik’s agent to make it clear that he wouldn’t be traded.
Chicago Blackhawks: GM Stan Bowman said they never shopped Patrick Sharp: “He’s a big part of the fabric of the team.”
Sarah McLellan: Coyotes GM Don Maloney if he anticipated Shane Doan asking him for a trade in the future: “I would never ever respond to that. You’d have to ask him that. He’s a leader and a captain and we want him around. We need good people around, and he’s here and we all have a job to do.”
Craig Morgan: Need to remember that Coyotes Martin Erat has a no-movement clause in his contract. Wasn’t moved despite being a UFA at the end of the year.
Eric Stephens: Ducks GM Bob Murray received calls on Matt Beleskey and was torn to move him or not: “Right now it was more important to keep Matt and take our chances in the future.”
Stephen Whyno: Ducks GM Bob Murray said the asking prices were very high: “Guys were apologizing for asking for certain things.”
