Injuries with Videos: Kane, Letang, Pacioretty, Wilson and More
  • Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times: Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville on Patrick Kane returning during the first round of the playoffs.

“Tough to say,” Quenneville said when asked about that possibility. “It’s the same thing we’ve been saying — medical clearance is the hurdle. That kind of gives us an idea of when to rachet up the physicality of it, to get the test. That’s where we’re at.”

  • Scott Powers of ESPN: Blackhawks Kimmo Timonen left in the first period with an undisclosed injury. He went headfirst into the boards after a hit from Ryan Reaves. Head coach Joel Quenneville said Timonen is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
  • Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Penguins Steve Downie missed yesterday’s game with an unspecified injury. Head coach Mike Johnston was downplaying the possibility of Christian Ehrhoff returning on Tuesday. Kris Letang (concussion) could start doing some exercise on the bike this week.
  • Dave Stubbs: There is no media availability today, so there won’t be an official update on Canadiens Max Pacioretty before tomorrow unless the team puts out a statement today.

  • Ansar Khan: Red Wings Justin Abdelkader missed yesterday’s game with a hand injury.
  • Jim Jamieson: Canucks Zach Kassian and Brad Richardson didn’t practice yesterday.
  • Alex Prewitt: Capitals Eric Fehr is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
  • Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post: Capitals Tom Wilson left yesterday’s game after blocking a slap shot with his head.

“That was a key point in the game,” Coach Barry Trotz said. “They had a real good look and he went down and sacrificed for the team. When he did that, our bench was going to go down and sacrifice because he did. That was a real key moment in the game.”

“It’s scary, but hopefully he’s okay,” defenseman Mike Green said. “I haven’t seen him yet, but again, it goes back to winning and losing, those are the differences in an outcome. He got the Honest Abe hat today and he deserved it.”
