Trade: Blackhawks Send Sharp and Johns To Stars For Daley and Garbutt

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded Patrick Sharp and Stephen Johns to the Dallas Stars for Trevor Daley and Ryan Garbutt.

The 33-year old Sharp was drafted 95th overall in the 3rd round of the 2001 draft by the Flyers. He carries a $5.9 million cap hit for another two years.

The 23-year old Johns was drafted 60th overall in the 2nd round of the 2010 draft by the Blackhawks. He carries a $800,000 cap if he’s in the NHL.

The 31-year old Daley was drafted 43rd overall in the 2nd round of the 2001 draft by the Stars. He carries a $3.3 million cap hit for another two years.

The 29-year old Garbutt was undrafted. He carries a $1.8 million cap hit for another two years.

Chris Kuc: The Stars are retaining 50 percent of Garbutt’s salary, so he’ll only count as $900,000 against the Blackhawks cap.

The Blackhawks end up saving $1.7 million in cap space.
