Rumors: Leafs, Avs, Kings, Ducks, Scouting and Devlis

On the Maple Leafs …

  • Damien Cox of Sportsnet: Pending free agent, James Reimer has increased his value to the Maple Leafs with his play in the past month. It seems unlikely that they will re-sign him. Jonathan Bernier has a year left on his contract, and only one win in his past 18 starts. The Leafs could trade Reimer at the deadline.
  • Joffrey Lupul has two years left on his contract with a $5.25 million cap hit, but with a $3.75 million salary in the second year. If he can keep up this scoring pace and remain healthy, he could become a commodity at the deadline.

On the Avalanche …

On the Kings …

  • Dennis Bernstein: (answering question) It’s still too early to tell if the Kings will look to sign Milan Lucic to an extension. Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson are both eligible for an extension on July 1st.
  • Dennis Bernstein: There has been no progress on an Anze Kopitar extension.

On the Ducks and Sabres …

  • Joe Yerdon: Watching Tuesday’s Sabres-Stars game were Ducks GM Bob Murray and Coyotes GM Don Maloney.
  • Joe Yerdon: The Ducks have had some high-up people watching the Sabres pretty regularly in Buffalo this season.

On the Oilers and Blackhawks …

  • Bob Stauffer: 16 teams were scouting the Oilers and Blackhawks game last night.

On the Kings and Flyers …

  • Adam Kimelman: Scouting the Kings-Flyers on Tuesday were the Bruins, Sabres, Lightning, Coyotes, Stars, Devils, Capitals, Red Wings and Panthers.

On the Devils …

  • Tom Gulitti of The Record: The 39-year old Patrik Elias is in the last year of his deal with the Devils. It is possible that this could be his last year with the Devils, or even in the NHL.

“I hope not,” he said. “You never know, obviously, but I hope not. I’m enjoying watching these guys and I’m enjoying seeing the approach to the game now, the changes, the quickness, the way the young guys have stepped in and I want to be part of it. So, I hope not. I’ll do my best to do what I can do and we’ll see at the end.”
