On the Arizona Coyotes …

  • Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports: Shane Doan has missed the past eight games with a groin injury that has dragged on since training camp. Doan was practicing with the team yesterday and hasn’t ruled himself out for tonight, but added …

“but I probably haven’t ruled out the past few games and they came and went.”

Doan won’t rush back and risk further injuring his groin.

“Any decision I would make would be off of his recommendation. If I thought I could play and I thought I could contribute and that I wouldn’t go backwards, I’d do everything I could to help. But if you think you’re going to play and then be worse off at the end of it then it doesn’t always make sense.

“There’s always that concern with certain injuries and when that is the case you have to be careful.”

Craig Morgan: Martin Hanzal didn’t practice yesterday and is questionable for tonight due to a lower-body injury.

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

  • Chris Hine of the Chicago Tribune: Defenseman Trevor Daley was initially pretty scared after his collision with Chris Thorburn on Sunday. With a stretch beside him, Daley was eventually able to skate off on his own. He was back at practice yesterday, but didn’t play last night due to his neck injury.

“Once I got cleared and the results came back and they were fine, then obviously it was a big relief for me,” Daley said. “Now it’s just the pain and stiffness going away, and it should be good.”

The Blackhawks will reevaluate him today before determining his status for tonight’s game against the Jets.

On the Anahein Ducks …

  • Eric Stephens of the OC Register: Jiri Sekac has been out for over a month with a right ankle injury. He’s been practicing for two weeks and his nearing his return. They are expecting him to return at some point during their four-game road that starts next week.

On the New Jersey Devils …

  • Tom Gulitti: Travis Zajac has been up on the IR with an upper-body injury.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area: (after Wednesday’s game) Logan Couture left Wednesday’s game part way through the second period and didn’t return. It was Couture second game back after he missed 23 games with a fractured right fibula. Coach Pete DeBoer wouldn’t say much on the matter.

“I’ve got it at lower body, and that’s all I’m going to keep it at right now,” DeBoer said.
