Interesting that Kulemin seem to have his ice time cut late in the 3rd last night, as Wilson was looking for a spark to tie it.

Leafs trades have been very stealth-like the past few years. Whenever there is tons of talk, they dont seem to make a trade. Wouldnt surprise if they didnt do anything. Or something small like Travis Moen.

Howson in a really tough position with Carter.

How do you give up so much for him, and then have to turn around and trade him months later for half what you paid for him?

CBJ needs a new GM to make these moves, in my opinion.

When you compare CBJ to what Nashville has done, i feel real bad for the 42 CBJ fans out there.

The problem with the Carter/Nash tandum is both players are shoot-first. It's not very good for chemistry.

@marshall, ur right, i was assuming those lines posted were what's actually used in st. louis, and i didnt want to break up the 2nd line, thats the only reason why i would put d'agostini above a couple of those guys, certainly perron would make it to the top line before him.

and i consider oshie as a 1st line winger on the blues, he's got slick hands.

but at the end of the day chemistry is key. and hitch is a sick coach, should be fun to watch

I think every single team can get better, and if you want to win championships you need superstars...look at any team that has won a cup or even gotten to the finals in the last few years, there are at least 2 bonified superstars leading the team Toews/Kane Crosby/Malkin Zetterberg/Datsyuk and so on...

Earlier interviews with Nash when they got Carter said the same thing...Every winning team has some tandem...unfortunately Nash/Carter can't get it done...and I doubt any of those Blues can either...but...if it's purely future forecasting then they are definitely on the right path.

To D,

I personally dont even think hes a first line guy for the Blues. And thats saying a lot when talking about the Blues. I personally think hes a great 2nd line winger and a PP specialist. By the way, a 50 point player in St. Louis is a god, but we have a ton of em. I personally believe these are reasonable tallys for our team:

Backes: 60-65
Perron: 60-70
Oshie: 55-60
Stewart: 55-60
Steen: 50-55
Berglund: 45-55
Langenbrunner: 35-40
Arnott: 35-40
D'Agostini: 40-50
Sobotka: 30-35
Pietrangelo: 30-40
Shattenkirk: 30-40

I know we dont have any point per game players or anything but that is a very solid team from the first line right on through to the fourth line. I personally dont see D'Agostini on the first line for the Blues. Ever. He has to leapfrog Steen, Backes, Oshie, Perron, Berglund, Stewart, McDonald. I know Stewart and Berglund are having bad seasons, but so is D'Agostini. Since you were talking about what he is capable of I figured Id throw what Stewart and Bergy are capable of as well.

I dont know. I really don't think we should mess with our team. We're very young and very talented. With great chemistry. Does it get much better than that?

Marshall,

you make some good points about the blues. i think if there is a change to be made in st. louis, it would be an upgrade on the first line wing for steen. he's a 50 point player at best, a solid 2 way player, but id call him a 3rd liner on a contender. if d'agostini can pick up his game (having an off-season), i could see him taking that top line spot next season.

Every time Hitch is hired, his team goes and wins a ton of games almost immediately.

Then i wonder why other struggling teams didnt hire him.

Happens every time.
