- Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Carey Price will be a RFA on July 1st. There haven’t been any talks yet, but there will before the offseason. 6 NHL team executives don’t think Predators will be able to sign both Ryan Suter and Shea Weber. GM David Poile told ESPN that ownership gave him the “financial green light” to get all of them signed to “fair-market value” deals. Now it just depends what the players think fair-market value is. LeBrun wouldn’t be shocked if Suter was looking for something in the $6.5 to $7 million range. The Carolina Hurricanes join the Maple Leafs as a team that may be looking to move a defenseman. Though it’s not known who they are looking to move, Bryan Allen will be a UFA at the end of the season.
- Scott Burnside of ESPN: Burnside hacks the Blue Jackets down calling them bad from “top to bottom, from bottom to top.” He calls Steve Mason the worst starting goalie in the league. The could fire coach Scott Arniel, and they could bring back Ken Hitchcock who is still under contract. Some flaws on how this team was built are: Mason has another year at $2.9 million. Antoine Vermette is owed $3.75 million until the end of 2014-15 (he hasn’t scored this season). Derick Brassard makes $3.2 million and has 3 points. Marc Methot makes $3 million for 3 more years. Nikita Filatov was a bust of a pick for them, passing over drafting Tyler Myers, Erik Karlsson or John Carlson.
- Andy Strickland of True Hockey: With Penguins being deep down the middle, they may be looking to move one of their centers in the near future. They have had conversations with multiple teams about Mark Letestu. Josh Yohe via twitter: Yohe adds to Strickland’s report by adding that it wouldn’t shock him and that Letestu looks lost right now.
- Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province: Cancucks forward Alex Burrows left in the 2nd period of last night’s game with back spasms after he was checked from behind by Chris Stewart. He’s listed as day-to-day.
- Joanne Ireland of the Edmonton Journal: Oilers forward Linus Omark has an out clause in his contract that allows him to return to Europe if he’s playing in the AHL.
“I want to play (in the) NHL and if no one lets me do that then I’m going to go to Europe,” Omark told Gibbons after practice. “I take it one day at a time and we’ll see after that.”
“(The Oilers) have a lot of young guys,” Omark said. “And they believe in them more than me, I think. I want to play in the NHL, so I am going to do my best there. Hopefully, they call me up or … Yeah, we’ll see.
“I’m not here to stay the whole season, that’s for sure.”
- Larry Brooks of the NY Post: Rangers forward Sean Avery will get into the lineup for injured Mike Rupp, who will have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. Avery will likely be on the wing with Brian Boyle and Brandon Prust. Ruslan Fedotenko will likely be with Derek Stepan and Marian Gaborik. Renaud Lavoie via twitter: Rupp will be out 3 to 4 weeks.
- David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News: Sharks leading scorer Joe Pavelski was given yesterday off as he’s been battling a flu that has already hit Patrick Marleau and Dan Boyle. Coach Todd McLellan expects him to play on Saturday. McLellan also wouldn’t rule out Thomas Greiss starting in net tonight against the Predators.
- Katie Carrera of the Washington Post: Capitals defenseman Mike Green staked for an hour yesterday morning, which was the longest he’s gone since he injured his ankle on Oct. 22nd.
- Bruce Garrioch via twitter: Only Dallas and Minnesota had people in to watch the Senators and Canadiens last night.
Isles re-sign Okposo for 5 years … Thornton’s and other Sharks injuries … Preds will match any Weber offer sheets

- The New York Times: The NY Islanders have locked Kyle Okposo (23) up for 5 years, at $14 million. Okposo was drafted 7th overall in 2006. He missed the first 44 games last year with a lorn labrum. In 192 career games he’s scored 44 goals and added 72 assists. He’ll make $1 million next year, $2 million in 2012-13, $3 million in 2013-14, $3.5 million in 2014-15 and $4.5 million in 2015-16.
- Mark Emmons of the San Jose Mercury News: Not only did Sharks center Joe Thornton have a separated shoulder in Game 5, but he’s been dealing with a pinky injury since the regular season, which ended up bothering his wrist.
“My pinky went in a different direction than it was supposed to,” Thornton said. “The top just got cut off and they had to put it back together. It happened with a couple games left in the regular season. That surgery probably will happen tomorrow.”
His shoulder injury won’t require surgery. The full list of other injured Sharks isn’t known yet. Jason Demers missed the Vancouver series. Ryane Clowe’s upper-body injury “needs to be repaired.”
“It was a lot of guys, and I think that’s a good sign,” McLellan said. “We were bumped, banged and bruised a lot more this year than last season. No one ever wants to be hurt, but that’s a good sign.”
UFA defenseman Ian White said he’d like to return next year.
- Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: A challenge for Sharks GM Doug Wilson is to improve the blueline, bringing in a top-four defenseman. Dany Heatley struggled again in the playoffs (3 goals in 18 games) and has 3 years at a $7.5 million cap hit. RFA Devin Setoguchi has been inconsistent and the Sharks could explore a trade at the draft. Joe Pavelski’s production this playoffs dropped compared to last year, 17 points in 15 games to 10 points in 18 games.
- Craig Custance of the SportingNews: Predators coach Barry Trotz on teams thinking of about giving Shea Weber an offer sheet,
“We’ll just match it,” Trotz told Sporting News. “I can tell you, whatever they offer, it’ll just get matched.”
and added,
“I know he’s going to get done. I can tell you that,” Trotz said. “They’ve had some good discussions.”
- Renaud Lavoie via twitter: Lavoie reports True North will pay a total of $170 million to move the Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg, $130 to buy the team and $40 for relocation fees.

- Nicholas Cotsonika of Yahoo! Sports: Calgary Flames GM Jay Feaster said he won’t deal Jarome Iginla. Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk probably won’t move Brad Richards. The Devils could move out Jason Arnott. The Feb. 28th trade deadline may not be as busy as fans hope as there are more buyers than sellers, teams are close to their budget or cap numbers, and teams are more reluctant to part with their prospects and draft picks.
- Jimmy Murphy via twitter: Murphy has been told that the Blue Jackets are interested in Mike Fisher.
- David Pagnotta via twitter: LA Kings GM Dean Lombardi told Pagnotta that he won’t move Brayden Schenn.
- Dennis Bernstein via twitter: Bernstein wonders if back to back ‘stinkers’ to the Maple Leafs and Blues will finally force Kings GM Lombardi into making a move, and if not, what will? Bernstein also doesn’t think they should fire coach Terry Murray.
- Steve Marcus of Newsday: Kyle Okposo (torn labrum in Sept,) has begun practicing with the NY Islanders, and vows he’ll be able to return this year, “I don’t believe there is any chance that I won’t play this year.”‘
- Vicky Hall of the Calgary Herald: Craig Conroy has found himself a healthy scratch numerous times this season, and realizes his NHL days are likely coming to an end. “I guess this year will probably be it,” Conroy said “This is it.”
- Joe MacDonald of ESPN Boston: Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference has an undisclosed injury that caused him to miss the majority of the 3rd period last night. “Obviously, I can’t tell you much about it,” Julien said. “He’s being evaluated. I don’t have the whole details right now, and tomorrow for sure we’ll update you guys on that.”
- David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News: The San Jose Sharks have put Torrey Mitchell on IR with a lower-body/groin injury. Joe Pavelski, who had missed the last 8 games, was activated for last nights game. Logan Courture is still listed as day-to-day.

- David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News: To start training camp, the Sharks have split up Joe Thornton and Dany Heatley. Thornton is centering Ryan Clowe and Devin Setoguchi, while Joe Pavelski is centering Dany Heatley and Patrick Marleau.
- Sean Gordon of the Globe and Mail: Andrei Markov is still recovering from late season knee surgery, but it’s progressing. “In my dreams, I want to come back tomorrow, but I can’t. Maybe another month, I don’t know, maybe more, maybe less,” he said.
- Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune: The 25 year old Brent Seabrook might be the next player GM Stan Bowman tries to lock up long term. Seabrook will be a RFA at seasons end, and is making $3.5 million this year.
- Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Atlanta Thrashers prospect Patrice Cormier broke his foot after blocking a shot. Cormier was acquired in the Kovalchuk trade, but may be more known for being suspended from the QMJHL for a nasty hit.
- Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: If the Columbus Blue Jackets defensive corps has some struggles during training camp/pre-season, don’t be surprised if Sheldon Souray talks heat up. The Oilers want a defenseman or 2 in return, and have cap space to take on more contract.
- Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News: Ken Hitchcock will be attending the Red Wings training camp. “Hitch said, ‘I want to learn, can I come to camp?’ ” Babcock said. “He wants to learn, but I want to learn, too.” “If he can get something from us and we can get something from him, that’s a bonus.”
- Tom Gulitti of the Bergon Record: The bringing in the versatile Adam Mair on a tryout means the Devils won’t be bringing back Dean McAmmond. Lou said the door isn’t closed in bringing back defenseman Mike Mottau. Mottau’s fate with the Devils depends on if they move out defenseman as they attempt to get under the cap.
- Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun: Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson and defenseman Tomas Kaberle have had they private meeting to smooth things out regarding their alleged feud. “I know (a feud) is a nice story for you guys to hang your hats on,” he said added with a smile, “but there really isn’t an issue. I just wanted to get that out there and be on the offensive and give you the information so you aren’t running around thinking (he’s benched) and there is something else going on.”
- Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: The Ottawa Senators have received calls to see if they would be interested in bringing in any of Robert Lang, Bill Guerin and Petr Sykora on a tryout, but they declined. They don’t have much room under the cap so they don’t want to bring anyone else in.

Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski Re-sign with Sharks

Sportsnet.ca: The San Jose Sharks locked up 2 key pieces of their team today.
Unrestricted free agent Patrick Marleau re-signed with the Sharks for 4 years and $27.6 million. This is a salary cap hit of $6.9 million. In 953 games, the 30-year old C/RWer has scored 320 goals, 373 assists for 693 points. Last year Marleau had his best offensive season with 44 goals, 39 assists for 83 points in 82 games. Playing with Heatley and Thornton helped those numbers.
The 25-year old Pavelski was locked up for 4 years at $16 million, after putting up 25 goals and 26 assists in 67 games this past season.

- Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: With Scott Niedermayer retiring, the Ducks will move to ‘Plan B’ with their defense needing an overhaul. Teemu Selanne is still undecided if he’ll retire or not, the two sides will talk again next week. Three Eastern executives have said that Dustin Byfuglien, Andrew Ladd, and Kris Versteeg are being shopped, Patrick Sharp isn’t. The asking price for Byfuglien is a 1st round pick and a prospect (good luck with that one). One GM said they are asking too much for each of the three. GM Dale Tallon said after he traded Nathan Horton to Boston that he had offers of players and no draft picks, and offers of draft picks and no players. He felt getting a top-4 defenseman and 1st round pick was the right mix. A dozen teams inquired about Horton, but only 3-4 serious bidders. Matt Cooke re-signed with the Penguins for 3 years, and a $1.8 million cap hit. Penguins GM Ray Shero and Sergei Gonchar’s agent will meet in LA at the draft to continue their talks on getting a deal done. Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson once again says that there have been no discussions with Ottawa about Jason Spezza.
- Terry Jones in the Toronto Sun: Pat Quinn may have inadvertently tipped the Oilers drafting plan. In the press conference where he was named the senior advisor and his head coaching job was given to Tom Renney.
“This team could have three kids come in at 19 years old and I’ve worked with all of them,” he said.
Quinn coached Taylor Hall to a gold medal at the 2008 IIHF U-18 championship. He’s never coached Tyler Seguin.
“Depending on who they draft, of course,” Quinn added.
- Darren Dreger via Twitter: Dreger wonders how long it will be before Kaberle to Bruins discussions start. Nothing yet. Savard is rumored to be available.
- Larry Brooks via Twitter: Marc Savard has been aggressively shopped since the end of the season.
- Caylan Davis of NESN: From Peter Chiarelli, “I’m not going to trade away the No. 2 pick but certainly I’d like to trade away the other picks because certainly we’d like to get better now too. ” The Bruins have 2 2nd round picks this year, 2 2011 1st round picks and 2 2011 2nd round picks.
- David Pollack of the San Jose Mercury News: Evgeni Nabokov has been informed by Sharks GM Doug Wilson that he is no longer in the their plans. Nabokov will now hit the open market on July 1st. It appears the Sharks will go with the new NHL fad in going with cheaper goaltending. Wilson will now focus on re-signing UFA Patrick Marleau, and other free agents: Joe Pavelski, David Setoguchi, Manny Malhotra, Scott Nicol and Nicklas Wallin.
- TSN: The Vancouver Canucks may be one team that is interested in acquiring potential Chicago Blackhawks salary cap casualty Andrew Ladd. What makes this interesting is that Andrew Ladd and Ryan Kesler have had a running battle this past season.
- Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: One of Peter Regin’s agents (Regin plays for the Ottawa Senators in case you haven’t heard of him) told a Danish TV station that Regin could get an offer sheet similar to what Tomas Vanek received from Edmonton, which in case you forgot was $50 million. I wonder if his agent is familiar with who Peter Regin is.
- Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun: Cross one player off the Maple Leafs wish list with the trading of Nathan Horton to the Bruins. It was rumored the Leafs liked Horton, but it’s not known the level of interest the Leafs had, or if they made an offer.
- Chip Alexander via Twitter: The Carolina Hurricanes are expected to stay at #7 in Friday’s draft.
Coaching and free agent NHL Rumors from around the League

Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: There’s a good chance the Red Wings won’t bring Kirk Maltby back for his 14th season, despite only making $500,000 last year. Dany Heatley was battling a groin injury in the playoffs. Heatley also only managed to get 16 shots on net in his last 146 shifts. The Oilers may look to add some goalie depth to their system, Swedish Fredrik Pettersson-Wentzel had a 1.85 GAA and 6 shutouts in the Swedish First Division. Joe Pavelski didn’t have a good 2nd round, and may affect his contract offer from the Sharks, maybe in the 4 year, $16 million range. Kirk Muller is a possible candidate for the New Jersey Devils head coaching position. Kevin Dineen could be the leading candidate for the Tampa Bay Lightning head coaching position, with Scott Arniel and Gerard Gallent as other possibilities. Steven Stamkos’ next contract could be in the $6 million range, using Jonathan Toews and Nicklas backstrom as comparables.
Aaron Portzline of Columbus Dispatch: Reports are that the Atlanta Thrashers are close to naming Chicago associate coach, John Torchetti, as their new head coach. Any ‘official’ word would probably come after the Stanley Cup finals. The Columbus Blue Jackets have given Ken Hitchcock permission to talk to any team, and he should get calls from New Jersey and Tampa Bay.
Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe: Ken Hitchcock may be ‘too defensive-minded’ for the Lightning. Paul MacLean, an assistant coach with the Red Wings may be a better fit. Yzerman and the Lightning may go with the ‘Detroit Philosophy’ and not spend big on their goaltender, which may bode well for Mike Smith and his $2.2 million contract. Yzerman will look to bring in grinders to fill out the bottom two lines.

- George Malik of MLive: Red Wings GM Ken Holland told MLive that they can’t re-sign Tomas Holmstrom, Todd Bertuzzi, or any of their 5 RFAs before they hear if Nicklas Lidstrom will be back next season or not. Lidstrom has told the them he’ll let them know in a couple weeks. It doesn’t look like Brett Lebda, Jason Williams, and Doug Janik will be back. Derek Meech should get a qualifying offer from them.
- Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe: Panthers GM Dale Tallon isn’t a fan of players who aren’t willing to pay the price, which means that Nathan Horton could be on his way out, as he known to not have a good work ethic. A Bruin, who has friends on the Panthers has been told that Norton has “No heartbeat”. “We weeded out people who didn’t want to pay the price,” Tallon said. “If you don’t want to pay the price and you don’t want to be involved here, you’re not going to be here.” The Bruins have limited funds available to sign free agents, but could target Flyers winger, Aaron Asham.
- Lyle Richardson of Fox Sports: The Montreal Canadiens currently have 14 players locked up for about $45.7 million. Tomas Plekanec is a UFA and it might take around $5 million to re-sign him. Their biggest off-season situation is obviously what to do with Jaroslav Halak and Carey Price. Halak has shown that he can the #1, but Price could be the future star. RFAs Maxim Lapierre, Tom Pyatt, and Benoit Pouliot should be back. Glen Metropolit, Marc-Andre Bergeron, and Paul Mara probably won’t be back. Halak playoff performance may get himself a contract offer from the Canadiens, maybe in the $3 million range. To clear up some salary space, they may try to get rid of Andrei Kostitsyn (1 year, $3.25 million) and Roman Hamrlik (1 year, $5.5 million), but that could be difficult. One option would be for the Canadiens to package one of them with Carey Price. Buying George Laraque out will free up $1 million. Andrei Markov will be a free agent after next year, and could be shopped around if they think he’ll be out of their price range ($7 million?) or not in their long term plans.
- Mark Purdy of the San Jose Mercury News: It is possible that the Sharks could re-sign both Patrick Marleau and Evgeni Nabokov, but odds are they will only go after 1. Joe Pavelski and Devin Setoguchi will be getting pay increases, and cap space will be disappearing. If they let Nabokov go, they could go with Thomas Greiss and minor leaguer Alex Stalock, or look to bring in a less expensive goalie to challenge for the #1 spot.
- Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer: Carolina Hurricanes majority owner Peter Karmanos Jr. has hired a New York investment firm to help him find a local buyer for a 49% stake in the team. Karmanos former co-owner, Thomas Thewes, passed away a few years ago, he owned the 49% of the team.

- Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: Flyers winger Ian Laperriere practiced with the team yesterday, and could return later on in the series. Laperriere has been out since April 22nd with a brain bruise and concussion. Jeff Carter skated for the first time since suffering a broken foot on April 20th, though it’s unlikely he’ll be able to return this series.
- Craig Custance of the Sporting News: Will there be any offer sheets or deals similar to last years Bruins-Leafs trade for Phil Kessel? Custance offers a few names that might get some interest: Jaroslav Halak or Carey Price, Joe Pavelski, and Bobby Ryan. I think Pavelski and Ryan will both be re-signed by the the Sharks and Ducks. Price or Halak could be dealt at the draft, with Price the more likely candidate in my opinion.
- Helene St. James of hte Detroit Free Press: Nicklas Lidstrom will let the Detroit Red Wings know in the next few weeks if he will play next season, or retire. “Nick’s told me he’ll give me lots of time prior to July 1 when free agency starts,” Holland said. “I met with him last week, and we talked about the team, and he said he’d give me lots of time before July 1 with his decision.”
- Eric Stephens of the OC Register: Not much info coming out of Anaheim or the Bobby Ryan camp regarding the RFA. The Ducks will be looking to lock up Ryan long term, but at what cost? Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf both signed for around $5.3 million a season, 2 years ago. They would probably like to sign Ryan at a number below what Perry and Getzlaf got.
- Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk would have been a restricted free agent this off-season, but due to the fact that he’s played under 80 games, and is 26-years old, he is now a group 6 unrestricted free agent.
- Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: Scott Arniel and Kevin Dineen have been called back for a 2nd interview by the Columbus Blue Jackets for their vacant head coaching position. Red Wings assistant coach, Paul MacLean, should find out today if he’s getting a call back for another interview. Last seasons interim coach, Claude Noel, is still considered a strong candidate even though he won’t have a second interview since they are familar with him.
- Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen: At the beginning of last years free agent period, Senators GM Bryan Murray offered Mike Cammalleri a 4 year, $22 million ($5.5 mill. a year) deal. Cammalleri eventually took 5 years and $30 million ($6 mill. a year), and never asked Ottawa if they’d increase their offer. On the bright side Senators fans, that money was used on Alex Kovalev’s 2 year, $10 million deal.
Ponikarovsky re-signing in Pittsburgh? Nonis staying with Leafs … Hemsky for #4, don’t count on it

- Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The Pittsburgh Penguins gave up their number 2 prospect, Luca Caputi, at the trade deadline for Alexei Ponikarovsky, a deal that hasn’t played out as well as the Penguins had hoped. Ponikarovsky was brought in to be a top 6 forward and play with Evgeni Malkin, but he found himself dropped down to the 4th line, and then in the press box on Saturday. Though it’s unclear if they will look to bring him back next season, he might have to take less than he might get on the open market if he wants another shot playing with Malkin.
- Darren Dreger of TSN: Maple Leafs number 2 man, Dave Nonis, was rumored to be one of the top candidates for the vacant Tampa Bay GM job, but it appears that that won’t be happening. Nonis is expected to be signing an extension with the Leafs that will keep him with the club through 2011-12.
- Craig Custance of the Sporting News: Nicklas Lidstrom has enrolled his son in a Swedish school, though it doesn’t mean he’ll be retiring. “That’s something his age you have to do if we are going back to Sweden, otherwise he wouldn’t have a school,” Lidstrom said. “It’s something we had to do just to make sure, if we did go… he had a school to go to, otherwise we’d go back there and he wouldn’t be where he wanted to be.”
- Bryan Mullen of the Tennessean: The Nashville Predators will most likely stay the course with their drafting philosophy, taking the best player regardless of position. The Preds don’t have their 2nd (Grebeshkov trade) and 4th (Boyd trade) round picks. I think they should be taking the best scoring forward, regardless if he’s a center or winger, the Preds need to score more goals.
- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Joe Pavelski is one of the top RFAs this summer, and could be in a similar situation as Phil Kessel was last year, and their numbers are similar. Pavelski could get an offer sheet from someone, but the Sharks have only $36 million tied up next so far, and would most likely match the offer (unless it’s crazy). Columbus GM, and former Oilers assistant GM Scott Howson is a big fan of Ales Hemsky, but don’t count on them sending the Number 4 draft pick to the Oilers for him. There’s a good chance Sergei Kostitsyn will be in the KHL next season. Tomas Vokoun’s $6.3 million salary may be to big for some teams to swallow, but the Panthers will try to again at the draft and/or in July. Florida could go with Scott Clemmensen and Jacob Markstrom if Vokoun is moved.

- Robert Tychkowski of the Edmonton Sun: Fernando Pisani, who’s had some tough luck with injuries the past couple seasons is close to returning to the Edmonton Oilers. It may not be the best time to return to the Oilers dressing room as players, staff and members of the media that follow the Oilers have been getting sick. Ladislav Smid was confirmed as having the Swine Flu (H1N1).
- Terry Frei of the Denver Post: Coach Sacco confirmed that backup goalie, Peter Budaj, has been diagnosed with the Swine Flu. John-Michael Liles (shoulder) and Tom Preissing (knee) are both back skating with the club, but remain out.
- Mark Emmons of the San Jose Mercury News: Joe Pavelski and Torrey Mitchell took part in their first practice yesterday. Setoguchi is doubtful for tonight’s game.
- Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun: Yesterday Brennan wrote that Erik Karlsson would most likely be sent back to Sweden, today Karlsson finds himself on his way to Binghamton, the Sens AHL club. They won’t lose a year on his contract by sending him to the AHL.
- Steve Gorten of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel: 2009 1st round pick Dmitry Kulikov’s solid play to start the season will keep him with the Panthers. Kulikov has been averaging over 17 minutes a game so far this season.
- Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News: Philadelphia is going to miss Simon Gagne for an extended period of time as it was revealed that he has 2 small sports hernia’s. He’s been placed on IR and could be moved to LTIR. The course of action to fixed the injury has yet to be determined.
- Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer: Eric Stall has been moved to the point in an attempt to kick start the Hurricanes powerplay. Rod Brind’Amour, Ray Whitney and Sergei Samsonov, are the 1st line powerplay forwards with Stall and Joni Pitkanen on the point.
- David Satriano of the New York Post: It appears that Marian Gaborik will miss tonight’s game against the Islanders.
- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Answers a readers question about a Tom Gilbert to Buffalo for Drew Stafford trade rumor. Matheson says this rumor has been out there for a year.
