  • Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: The San Jose Sharks, or any other club for that matter, have not called Oilers GM Steve Tambellini about Sheldon Souray. Souray is out with a bad knee.
  • Tom Reed via twitter: Ethan Moreau will remain on the IR for an additional 3 weeks with cracked ribs.

Pronger out 4-6 weeks … Semin to miss game … Stastny and Hejduk out … Kane aiming for Sunday

  • Tim Panaccio via twitter: Chris Pronger will miss 4-6 weeks after having surgery to repair a broken bone is his right foot.
  • Katie Carrera via twitter: Alexander Semin won’t travel with the team to Boston, but could meet them in Ottawa according to Bruce Boudreau. Scott Hannan and Tyler Sloan are both game-time decisions, both are sick.
  • Adrian Dater via twitter: Paul Stastny and Milan Hejduk won’t be in the lineup for the Avalanche tonight. Stastny skated for a bit today but left early.
  • Allen Panzeri via twitter: Pascal Leclaire will be in net for the Senators tonight against the Avalanche. Matt Carkner is a game-time decision with an ankle cut.
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: The Chicago Blackhawks have placed Jassen Cullimore on waivers. Jon Sim was put on waivers by the Islanders.

Some want Jarome out? Staal injured at practice, Malkin and Letang missing … Kuba, Leclaire almost ready … plus more

  • Elliotte Friedman of CBC Sports: Some people in the Calgary Flames organization want Jarome Iginla to be traded. Friedman was told in the summer that “Iginla will not agree to a trade unless the Flames make it public that any move is the team’s choice, not his.” Mark Giordano had a 3-way contract six years ago, one for each of the NHL, AHL, and ECHL.
  • Allen Panzeri via twitter: Pascal Leclaire could be the backup for the Senators tomorrow night against the Leafs, survived the entire practice today. Filip Kuba also lasted entire practice, could be back on Thursday.
  • Ben Wright via twitter: Bryan Little (concussion) is still awaiting his test results and isn’t at practice. Freddy Meyer also didn’t practice.
  • Eric Stephens via twitter: It’s looking like Cam Fowler will be in the lineup on Wednesday, the Anaheim Ducks should decide this week if he’ll remain with the club or be sent back to Junior.
  • Andrew Gross via twitter: Marian Gaborik says that his shoulder still isn’t pain free, took a couple wrist shots, no slap shots. Darren Dreger via twitter: Gaborik skated on his own today for the first time since his shoulder injury, still weeks away.
  • Andrew Gross via twitter: Vinny Prospal isn’t doing any leg exercises, doing hand-bike exercises. Chris Drury doing off-ice exercises.

Maple Leaf Rumors … Bodies Moving out off the Isle? Flames done Dealing

  • Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun: Brian Burke expects to be busy leading up to the trade deadline. Assistant GM Dave Nonis has been handling some things while Burke is at the Olympics. The Maple Leafs hope to be both buyers and sellers, taking on salary for picks/prospects. 4 of the Leafs pending UFA’s who could find themselves playing elsewhere, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Lee Stempniak, Wayne Primeau, and Garnet Exelby. Burke stated again he won’t ask Kaberle to waive his no-trade clause, but rumors are swirling Kaberle may be willing to waive it. The Leafs have already received a trade offer for Ponikarovsky, a 2nd round pick and prospect, but decided to hold out in hope of a better offer. The Penguins head scout has been seen at the ACC over the last month. Stempniak may be getting some interest from his home town, Buffalo.
  • Chris Botta of NYI Point Blank: The Islanders continue to shop Dwayne Roloson and Andy Sutton. Flyers, Capitals, Blackhawks and others, could consider adding a goalie. Botta thinks the Isles could take back Huet, a 1st round pick, and a top prospect. There also appears to be some interest in veterans Martin Biron, Richard Park and Jon Sim, with each fetching a 3rd to 5th round pick.
  • Ian Busby of the Calgary Sun: Flames GM Darryle Sutter doesn’t expect to busy leading up to the trade deadline, as he’s made several moves beforehand, and he is happy with the team.
  • Scott Cruickshank of the Calgary Herald: The Flames are without a 1st (Olli Jokinen trade) and 2nd (Rene Bourque) round pick this year, and Cruickshank thinks the Flames could look at getting back some early round picks.
