- Eric Stephens of the OC Register: The Anaheim Ducks and Bobby Ryan’s side have plans to meet this week in attempt to break their contract stalemate.
- Edmonton Journal: Oilers GM Steve Tambellini has said that Sheldon Souray could be at training camp if he isn’t dealt before. “We know he would rather not be in Edmonton. We’d like to make a deal if we could and it may take until the start of camp or just before. “We don’t have anything right now that would help the Oilers,” he said.
- Stu Barnes of the Edmonton Journal: Nikolai Khabibulin was given a 30 day jail sentence in his drunk driving case. Khabibulin’s lawyers plan on appealing, which would allow him to attend training camp, and might keep him out of jail for the entire season. Additional discipline from the league and/or team may come at a later date. Khabibulin will enter the leagues substance abuse and behavioural health program.
- Mike Boone of Habs Inside/Out: According to a tweet by Michel Godbout (CBC-Montreal reporter), Carey Price is looking for $3 million a year or he’s going to strike.
- Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Sources tell CSNNE that the Boston Bruins fully expect Marc Savard to attend their training camp. Savard is penciled in as their #1 center between Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic. Tyler Seguin is expected to play left wing with Patrice Bergeron and Mark Recchi.
- Chris Vivlamore via twitter: Contract talks between the Atlanta Thrashers and Niclas Bergfors are progressing very slow.
- Chris Kuc via twitter: Marty Turco wants to play between 55 and 65 games next season for the Chicago Blackhawks.
- Gregg Krupa of the Detroit News: Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall underwent arthroscopic knee surgery yesterday. GM Ken Holland expects him to be ready to go by the start of training camp. Kirk Maltby and the Wings could agree to a deal by the end of the week.

- Sportsnet.ca: Sheldon Souray thinks he’ll be traded by the start of the season, and that the Oilers have done nothing to smooth things over.

More Flames talk, Moving Price over Halak? Some injury updates
Posted by Mark Easson in NHL Injuries, NHL News, NHL Rumors on January 26th, 2010
- Friedman thinks that the Canadiens should consider trading Carey Price. The return for Price would be greater than Jaroslav Halak.
- Sheldon Souray has given the Oilers a list of teams he’ll waive his no-trade clause for. In a perfect world for Souray, the Kings and/or Ducks would come calling.
- Trade talks are begining to heat up amongst teams, as one GM said “I got six calls on Friday. I hadn’t got that many in weeks.”
Allen Panzeri of the Ottawa Citizen: Senators goalie, Pascal Leclaire, has begun skating on his own, and hopes to be back in the next few weeks.
Around the Boards: Leafs and Hawks, N. Kronwall out 4-8, Savard returning tonight
Posted by Mark Easson in NHL Injuries, NHL News, NHL Rumors on November 23rd, 2009
- Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star: The Leafs and Blackhawks’ will be tied to trade rumors, especially since ‘Hawks assistant GM Kevin Cheveldayoff was at the Leaf-Caps game on Saturday. Brent Sopel was mentioned as possibly heading to the Leafs during HNIC ‘Hotstove’. With the supposed ability to take on contracts (this could only happen if the Leafs demote or trade other contracts), the names Patrick Sharp, Kris Versteeg, Dustin Byfuglien, and Cam Barker, have/will come up, but I don’t see it happening. I’m sure Leaf fans would love to see Blake ($4 million) and Stempniak ($3.5 million) playing elsewhere.
- Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun: GM Brian Burke is working the phones in an attempt to recover some top drafts picks for this year and/or next. Burke once again states that he hasn’t asked, and will not ask Tomas Kaberle to waive his no trade.
- Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: After taking a knee-on-knee hit from George Laraque, Niklas Kronwall will be out of the Red Wings lineup from 4 to 8 weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament.
- Stephen Harris of the Boston Herald: Marc Savard will be returning to the Boston Bruins lineup for tonight’s game against the St. Louis Blues.
- Steve Zipay of the Newsday: Chris Drury practiced yesterday and could return to the Rangers lineup later this week.
